The Holiday Weekend

I don't know if part of it is that I'm getting older, perhaps it's because now I'm a mother - but rather than feel compelled to get out there and hit every BBQ and party we were invited to, all I really wanted to do was hang at home and relax during this much needed three day weekend.

This full moon seems to have really hit me hard, I'm having trouble falling asleep, been moody during the day, and exhausted when I wake up. I swear I feel like I could sleep for another 3 hours after the alarm (our son) goes off in the morning. So thanks to his antics I'm up every day whether I'm ready to get up or not, and this weekend seemed like the perfect time to "recover" from my inability to sleep-in due to my lifestyle change (our son).

I've been able to stick to my resolution for this weekend for the most part, except for a quick trip out for a 2 year old's birthday party yesterday and a friends BBQ today, followed by a very quick date night for hubby and I. We finally got to see The Bourne Ultimatum... so much fun!

I'm sometimes so amazed at my seemingly lackluster desires for my social life now that I am a mother, but being a mother is a lot of work. I have a full time job during the week that actually has rather long hours, and I'm always technically on call via cell and email - then I come home and I'm a full time mom. I takes a lot out of you physically, but all I have to do is look at that adorable little face and my heart melts and fills with such a sense of completion that I am in the only place I want to be... at home with my munchkin! And that feeling makes me feel so completely justified, so unapologetic for turning friends and family down for social invites. I could not be happier to spend quality time at home, or where ever, with my two wonderful boys (big & little).
