Offbeat Men Make the Bouquet Toss Fun

Posted Saturday, July 19, 2008 8:00 AM

I've long detested the bouquet toss. It's boring not just for most singles who desperately try to avoid the hubris it suggests and for couples who've wed or don't intend to, it's archaic, it's sexist in a magical way that excludes both sexes and, oh yeah, I have no intention of carrying a bouquet.

I will have a tossing bouquet made, although possibly out of felt and vintage buttons from Princess Laserton at Etsy, if it could have awesome results. "My REAL favorite moment was when one of my best friends beat his own girlfriend to the bouquet. He intercepted my toss as if he were fighting for a superbowl title — and of course, promptly spiked the bouquet in triumph," wrote Amy Ross on Ariel Meadow Stallings Offbeat Bride blog.
