I just checked our bank account, and lovely H put his drinks from the bar a few nights ago on his debit card.... which totally defeats the purpose of having a fun money cash envelope system. Grr.... I swear, if he handled our finances, we'd be overdrawn every month and we wouldn't be out of debt for like 10 years. I am so frustrated right now. Now I just feel like he didn't listen to me at all last week when I presented my 6 month plan to him. Part of it was that we use cash for that type of stuff, not our cards.

::stomps feet and has a little temper tantrum::

This is so getting brought up tonight, I don't care what time he gets home. I may just have to make myself another whiskey cocktail...

Now you have a reason to yell at him.  This fun money thing sounds like it is not an easy transition.  I hope your talk goes well.

Looks like you need to hide his debit card.  Or know that he doesn't get any cash from the fun money envelope since he will use his debit card anyway.

I don't do this but I know it works for a lot. Instead of him having a debit card, he gets a set amount of cash for the week, that he can spend however he wants. My brother and his wife do that, and its easier to track expenses on the checking account since two people are using it.
