Random thoughts of the day

Six months later...

Soo, it's been quite awhile since I posted anything....August, I think was the last one?  Since then we have been furiously working on our house and making it our own.  We just completed our master bedroom this week, and this was the room we practically gutted on the day of closing (Aug 14th)!  Our living room is also completed except for painting the stairway, and turned out really nice if I do say so myself Wink.  Everything has taken probably three times longer than we thought it would, and probably was three times more expensive, but it was all worth it, just to see my husband with power tools in his hands, and actually being able to use them (yeah, no prior DIY skills)!

Of course we do have a lemon...the freaking oil furnace, which has tried to burn our house down three times now....WTF?? So, so much for a tax refund this year, because it's all going to a new comfort system (hybrid too so we don't have to deal with the assholes oil company as much...score!).

Next on our ever increasing list of things to do is the kitchen/dining room.  Our kitchen cabinets look like something out of a 70's sitcom, with a marbled Formica counter to match.  How stylish!  Well, they make the room super dark, and with only one window at the opposite end of the room, I have to turn the lights on even during the day.  So the hope is to paint them white to help brighten the room and bring them up to date, change countertops, etc.  Maybe we'll have this project done before Christmas Big Smile

I've been wondering where you were.  Good to have you back and posting.

(our kitchen has a hot pink countertop...very 70s but I love it!)

It must feel good to have those two big projects out of the way!  That really stinks about your furnace, though.  I think that's one thing I will be almost ridiculously leary of when we finally get our own house because I've heard of so many people having problems with them.  Even at my parents' former house, theirs stopped working in the dead of winter.  @__@
