It was super hot and humid today, so didnt get in my full workout, but what I did was quality enough. maybe we should have picked a later half so then we wouldn't have to do the training in the middle of the summer, but I'm not that great at planning ahead like that :)

September back home will be really nice, it'll be around our 2 year anniversary, and it'll be nice to hopefully have a cooler race day. That and the Rochester half gives out medals to finishers and I don't think the Harrisburg one does...if I'm grinding out 13.1 miles, I want a nice heavy piece of hardware to put around my neck ;)

RTOTD

So here is my random thought of the day...There are just certain songs that now I can only associate with movies I've heard them in. Like now, it's the Wedding Singer, and it's that Spin me Round song in the beginning. Every time I hear it now, all I can think of is Wedding Singer! That movie is full of them. And one day at work, my manager was talking about that song Dreamweaver, and I was like, "oh yeah, that was in Wayne's World!" Yeah, I am a complete loser, and I have seen a lot of movies, so this is constantly happening.

I hope I am not the only one with this mental problem! I'm sure it's some association disorder, or something some psych majors can put their fingers on. So I thought this would be a nice diversion from baby and house talk in the blogs...after this past month, I am so off the baby clock and I'm sick of the damn house projects, so lets talk about something else for a change....

Are we the only people excited for the Olympics?

Andrew and I are all caught up in the Olympic Trials going on these past couple of weeks. We had the track trials written on our calender! And every night is swimming trials in our house. It's amazing, world records are being broken night after night....and no one at work knows what the heck I'm talking about....awkward! Yet I sat there one day while three people talked about their earliest Steelers memories and how many games they've been to.

I am not a huge fan of football and baseball, which is obviously pretty big around here (one nurse painted her Mustang gold and black for the Steelers...it's that crazy). But no one has been watching any of the trials and I get the "wow, looser" eye when I start talking about it ;)

I don't know, I think these athletes are amazing. The age ranges are rediculous, teenagers through forty year olds! It's not like these guys who graduate college and make millions going pro and then get injured and never do anything again. These people at the trials are just getting good as these other pro athletes are retiring.

I dunno, I think a lot of people don't give a care about the Olympics, but I think these people are more awe inspiring than any football player could ever be, and I am way more excited for the Olympics than for the Superbowl any day....woops! that'll probably get me kicked out of America!

How is it almost July??

Where the hell did June go?? Did I miss something? Wasn't it April just a couple days ago? Our weekends have been so crammed with projects and little trips that we are going to miss the whole summer. I haven't gone swimming in two summers! Yeah, not like back in school where we are totally free all day for three months, but it's still time to let loose a little bit.

But oh yeah, we bought a house...that's where my summer is going! Can't get away or go anywhere because we need the $ to work on the house, and we need the weekends to do those projects. Dang, if I knew being an adult was going to be this dull I might have held off on the house thing Hahaha, j/k....i guess.

We are a couple of super dorks

Last night Andrew and I had ourselves a little adventure. It all started around 6pm when I went out with the girls from work and had a few margaritas. Andrew was my DD and on our way home, we spotted an old French door a couple blocks from our house, just sitting out waiting for garbage day. Now I had seen the woman setting this door out Saturday for a yard sale while I was on my way to work, and had tried to get Andrew to get it for our sunroom, but he had no idea what I was talking about and did not investigate. So I was super happy that it had not sold when I drove back home that night.

Fast forward to last night, being buzzed on tequila, I decided that we really needed to get this door, but we were going to make it a covert operation, complete with dark clothing and the "Mission Impossible" theme song running through my head. We waited till about 11pm and snuck out of our house and went running down the hill, hiding behind bushes all the way. Of course as we do this, a HUGE thunder storm is headed right towards us, which only added to our idiocy. So we snuck down to the house and hid in the shadows and ran up to grab the door....moving the big sign that said "FREE" out of the way (we are such badasses, stealing free garbage!). So it's a huge old door and that sucker is heavy, but we hauled it the quarter mile+ back to our house, trying to look all cool, as if carrying big old doors around at 11 pm in thunder storms is normal. We practically ran back up the last block because the lightning was basically hitting the hills just behind us and the wind really picked up, and we got back just as it started to rain. It soon developed into the biggest storm we've had this summer, but we got back just in the nick of time.

So that was my trip back to adolescence with my husband, we had fun. Nothing like garbage picking while buzzed out on margaritas

On a less rage inducing subject, the wedding we went to was very nice, except it rained almost to the exact minute the ceremony was supposed to be outside. Luckily they had an indoor backup, and after the storm cell passed, we were able to go back outside and they had the rest of the reception out in the courtyard of this really cool old building. DH was a groomsman and of course looked totally hot in his tux, and we actually danced a lot, which he doesn't like to do, so fun night all around. Great cake!

I am boring this time, I know...rennovations are at a halt til we save more $ (I want my over the oven microwave!!), not TTC and job is good right now....nothing else to blog about.

When you need them most...

It was a fairly rough day at work. It started badly and then was just so busy the rest of the day. And of course, this is the day Andrew went back home for the night to go to a bachelor party. I saw him for about 20 min this morning, and he left while I was at work, and I got home late from work last night, so hadn't seen him much. So I came home all deflated and had no real dinner, had a dog who wouldn't stop whining at EVERYTHING, and had no Andrew to unload on. So I heated up some soup and talked to my mom for an hour and started on a glass of wine, and he called me to check in and say a quick hi. I was a bum and tried to get him to chat, but I heard his buddies in the background so i felt bad and let him go have fun.

The girls at work who have been married for 10+ years were telling me to enjoy it and sleep in the middle of the bed, but I guess I'm not at that point yet because I'd rather fight for the covers and smack him when he snores and kick him when he tries to go all bed comando and steal my side of the bed. I only work a few days a week so I do have quite a bit of alone time, I don't get tons of time with him. Bit of a bummer. So Super Troopers and Casa Larga wine it is!

5k coming up

The 5k Andrew and I signed up for is right around the corner on Memorial Day. This will be my first 5k in about 8 years. The last 5k I did was the morning of my Senior Prom! So after a running hiatus, I am finally getting back in shape, and running is starting to get easier again. I had been running more a couple years ago, but never signed up for a race, which was probably a mistake. I love competing, it keeps me motivated, and pushes me to train harder all around. We also signed up for a race in June, which will be a faster race than this one on Monday because it's a flatter course that I've run before. And they are giving out wicking t-shirts and running pendants for the ladies, Score! I'm hoping to find a 10k for the end of the summer. I did think of running the Boilermaker, a 15k at Saranac where they have beer at the finish line...nothing like alcohol after a long run in the middle of July to make you drunk off your ass! Not sure we'll really do that one. I'm hoping to keep up the running this time around. I def feel better and am starting to drop a few pounds, so why in the world did I ever stop in the first place??? Duh Kate :)

I am so glad we got that treadmill for Christmas. It did make the tree a little bare underneath, but oh so worth it. When I felt bad about not being able to have more presents for Christmas, Andrew humbled me and said "I don't care what it costs, or that we don't have more gifts. If it makes you feel better about yourself and makes you happy, it's worth every cent to me." All together....AWWWWW, hahaha :)
