I am a cowgirl from Nebraska, married to a wonderful Sandhills cowboy. I am a vet tech at a large animal vet clinic and he is an electrician for an industrial electrical company. Our family is made up of us and our dog, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Wyatt, and any number of horses that come in and out of our lives. I might post a recipe or a random picture of Wyatt or the horses, so keep looking!

Cramps, name changing, and Mittens?

Posted Friday, October 10, 2008 3:32 PM

Ok. First of all, where is Mittens? Haven't seen her around for a while.

I am still feeling icky. Cramping has been going on all week, pretty faint, but enough to be annoying. I am feeling a little bloated today. I have also had a headache all week, but now my throat and ears are hurting, so I think I am coming down with a sinus infection or ear infection or something. I am only 8 dpo, so it's not like I can test till next week. So now I am just scouring the internet for the earliest signs, just trying to drive myself crazy.

Actually, I am really calm about it this time. Maybe it is the two BFNs I had the last two months. This time, I am not really worried about it. Maybe it is just that I am leaving it to God, as I should have been doing all along. I just feel so much more at peace this month.

After I took some Tylenol, my headache subsided enough for me to get busy, and I have been super-wife today. The house is clean and almost all the laundry is done. I even went down to Madison (20 minutes away) to get a new driver's license and was refused again. For those of you that kept your maiden name as a middle initial or something, how did it work for you? Did anyone give you any trouble? Do you have two middle initials on your driver's license? I would have just hyphenated it if I knew it was going to be this much trouble.

I was craving Culver's ice cream today and I got a Butterfinger Concrete Mixer and I shouldn't have. My stomach is normally kind of sensitive to dairy, and it is definitely not agreeing with me today. lol Why do all the good things have to be bad for you? :P

I haven't been too emotional today, so maybe I am just getting control of it. lol When the DMV ladies gave me hell, I just smiled and told them I would be back next week with my new social security card.

Ok, I'm rambling. DH will be home in a half hour and we are heading to J2's football game. Should be a good time!

re: Cramps, name changing, and Mittens?

I had trouble changing my name on my DL but its b/c the DMV is stupid in TN and no one speaks English. We are in the US, right? My main issue was my marriage cert. The state of SC gives you this small peice of paper and its so not professional.. you have to pay money for a more "official" document which is what I had to order and take w/ me before they would believe that I was actually married. I dont know why someone would want to change their name to someone that they're not.. but oh well! Good luck!

I think I saw a comment by Mittens on another blog a few days ago... but I'm glad you're feeling better!

re: Cramps, name changing, and Mittens?

I didn't have any trouble except the lady thought I heard her wrong, and I said no, I wanted both names as middle names.  On my social security card, driver's license, passport, it all says Rachel XXX XXXXXXX AXXXXXXX.  Two middle names.  It really should not be a problem.  If the local DMV people keep giving you h*ll, you can call the state DMV and let them know - they generally will help you out and get your local office in shape.
