How awesome was today? I’ll tell you…
Anxious to start the new job, I was just as anxious to buy some new clothes. I needed shirts to go with all my black pants. Scored some killer deals at Victoria’s Secret and checked out feeling pretty happy. I had told my husband that I was in desperate need of some new shoes as well. (Seriously, not being a girl. I have 3 pairs of professional black shoes: one pair has heels that are pretty dismal and very beaten up, the second pair has a broken strap making them non-wearable, and the third pair are four inch heels. Not conducive for a good day at the office.) I quickly realized I was going to have an issue finding animal friendly skids. My first stop was Zappos. Their vegetarian shoe selection more than sucks! All they carried were crocs and jellies!
Thank God for Google and my fellow Nesties. Within a few minutes of posting my distress, they answered back with some awesome sites. And Google delivered one amazing one where I managed to buy three pairs of shoes for just over $100. Three pairs!! That’s normally how much I spend on one pair! Then I read on PETA’s website (I should have looked there first, they had a whole list of vegan/veggie shoe distributors) “Vegan shoes and accessories are often inexpensive—up to 60 to 75 percent cheaper than leather!” So true! Each of my shoes came in right around $35!
Then, I moved on to something I’ve been dreaming about for months: an attaché case. I don’t know why I’m obsessed with having one, but I want one. Low and behold my choices were less than thrilling. At first all I could find were UK suppliers who didn’t ship to the US. (At one point I actually dropped the phrase “Fcuking America!” to which my Marine Corps husband sternly rebuked me for. Oops.) Then, my knight in shining armor appeared in a vision of white and red: Target! I managed to find a faux leather attaché case for just $33.
It’s a good day to be a vegetarian!
