Welcome to my blog! Mike and I were married on July 22, 2006 in Erie, PA. Although we're not technically considered newlyweds anymore, we still feel like we are! We live in a house we rent from my MIL with our dog, a pap-a-poo mix, Louis (pronounced "Louie") who is our pride and joy. I'm finishing up school full time to get my BA in finance while working full-time in a financial aid office and Mike is currently a technician for a national aerospace corporation. While we lead fairly boring lives, I'll try to spice things up from time to time to make the blog more exciting to read :)

Ugh, transitions at work.

I guess it's not all bad, but I just found out this week that my position has been re-evaluated is now switching from non-exempt to exempt, effective this past Monday. That means that I will now have to transition from getting paid bi-weekly to getting paid monthly. I think this may make budgeting easier once I get into the hang of it but the first month of this transition is going to stink. Also, this means no more overtime pay for me...boo Crying The overtime pay has been the one thing that has allowed Mike and I to hammer away at our debt so quickly. I had a feeling this was coming since I worked so much overtime in the past year that I made $5,000 more than my projected salary in 2007, but that still doesn't make it any easier. Cheap-o's! Oh well, at least Mike still has the option to work as much overtime as he wants. His company even encourages it!

I'm going to be working on revising the budget this week and trying to find some areas where we can cut back so that we can keep applying the same amount of money towards our debt each month. I know we can make this work without being too financially strapped but it still doesn't make me any happier about it!

Getting paid only once per month will really help you nip any excess spending in the bud, since you have no idea what will happen by the end of that month and you don't want to run out of money.  It's probably a good thing, but it will take some definite rearranging and getting used to.  Good luck.  Sorry about no more overtime :(
