House Fever

I think it's official...I've come down with house buying fever. I've been checking local home listings on a weekly basis just to keep on top of how the housing market is doing in our area and just to see what homes are going for in the particular area that we want to live in. There are currently two homes for sale that would be wonderful for us; one is at the top of our price range and is much larger while the second would be a beautiful starter home and is at the lower end of our price range. The only problem is, we are definately not ready to buy a home yet. We are still working really hard at paying off consumer debt and building our savings. While we're making great progress at each of those goals, we still aren't quite there yet. It's really important to us to be debt free before buying but there are definately times when we get frustrated with renting. The housing market and mortgage rates are making it even more tempting to want to buy right now. The best we can hope for is for the housing trend to continue downward for the next couple of years until we are ready to buy. Our plan is to purchase our "forever" home if we are able to so I suppose it won't truly matter either way.
