Welcome to my blog! Mike and I were married on July 22, 2006 in Erie, PA. Although we're not technically considered newlyweds anymore, we still feel like we are! We live in a house we rent from my MIL with our dog, a pap-a-poo mix, Louis (pronounced "Louie") who is our pride and joy. I'm finishing up school full time to get my BA in finance while working full-time in a financial aid office and Mike is currently a technician for a national aerospace corporation. While we lead fairly boring lives, I'll try to spice things up from time to time to make the blog more exciting to read :)

Being an adult is not all it's cracked up to be.

My hands hurt. Badly. Every night for the past week, I've come home from working overtime at my job to do nothing else but work on painting our garage. For anyone who may be curious out there, cement bricks are not fun to paint. I don't believe that I've ever realized just how large our garage is until now and it's only made for one car. I must say though, it's looking great and our backyard will look awesome once all of our current projects are finished. I just wish Mike didn't have so much going on this week so that he could help out more. He certainly has helped when he's had a moment, but I can't even begin to tell you how sick I am of painting right now.

The good news is that our first and only patio set shipped today. Yay! I can't wait to see it in person. I've added some pics of it to my bio for now until I can take some actual photos. I still can't believe that we found such a good deal on it...less than $200 at Walmart.com! It looks just like a set out of a Pottery Barn catalogue and surprisingly got amazing reviews thus far.

The sad news is that I decided to sell one of my coveted Louis Vuitton bags on eBay so that we could fund all of our backyard projects without having to dip into either our savings or squeeze them into our budget. It ended up selling within 4 hours of being listed and actually brought $100 more than expected which was great, but I'll still be slightly sad to see it go. It was purchased back in my frivilous spending days and I'm almost positive it was one of the items that contributed to our household credit card debt (which we are currently following the Dave Ramsey plan to pay off) so I know it's for the best.

Since when did becoming an adult have to stink so much?

I loathe painting.  We painted 9 rooms in our house last year and there's still more to do, so I hear ya!  I agree...being an adult does stink!  I'm also getting myself in the mindset that I'll become an ebay power seller in order to fund Christmas this year since I'll be a student again.  :(  I don't want to think about what I'll have to part with.  I'm jealous about your patio set!  That's one of the items on my wish list!  Can't wait to see your finished projects!

re: Being an adult is not all it's cracked up to be.

Being an adult kinda sucks is my verdict.  I'm the same age as you and alot of my friends are still in university so they get to party well I'm at home pregnant with a husband and mortgage payments. But I love my husband, love having a house and am excitied for the baby so can't complain too much.

I hear you on hating painting. When we moved into our house my husband decided to go on a week long 'trip' with my brother and left me with the painting.  My hands hurt so much, I also have arthritis in my hands so painting for a few days straight was almost pure torture but I wanted it done.
