Welcome to my blog! Mike and I were married on July 22, 2006 in Erie, PA. Although we're not technically considered newlyweds anymore, we still feel like we are! We live in a house we rent from my MIL with our dog, a pap-a-poo mix, Louis (pronounced "Louie") who is our pride and joy. I'm finishing up school full time to get my BA in finance while working full-time in a financial aid office and Mike is currently a technician for a national aerospace corporation. While we lead fairly boring lives, I'll try to spice things up from time to time to make the blog more exciting to read :)

Backyard project #1 - Complete!

Posted Tuesday, August 19, 2008 8:58 AM

Our backyard plans are finally starting to take shape! Last night, Mike and I were finally able to get the first flower bed in and  get all the plants in the ground. We've just got to put the mulch down tonight. Still to do:

1.) Put in flower bed around the big tree in the center of our yard and add mulch(tonight)

2.) Finish painting garage - a little more than half left to do

3.) Put in patio (this weekend) - our patio set has already shipped to us and should arrive this week!

4.) Get hot tub up and running - new cover should be in this week

5.) Finish painting our fence (this weekend)

I can't believe how different it already looks just between the fresh coat of paint on the garage and the new flower bed. It's been a PITA so far, but it'll definitely be worth it in the end. We've actually managed to stick to our budget so far, too. The total right now is right around $518 and we've got about another $100 to go in supplies. Getting all of our landscaping bricks for the patio and the 5 gallon bucket of paint for the garage from my MIL was a huge help! That alone saved us almost $300. Hopefully by the end of this weekend I'll be able to start posting pics of the finished project. I can't even begin to tell you how glad I'll be once everything's done!

re: Backyard project #1 - Complete!

It is amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do!  Mark and I just finished painting and staining our back yard deck this past weekend.  This has been an ongoing project since like June and everytime we wanted to get back into the project, the weatherman was telling us that it was going to rain!  However, it looks fabulous, we are so proud of ourselves!!  It is such a great accomplishment when you work together and appreciate the outcome!
