Grocery Game, Tender Hearts, Long Weekend

Posted Thursday, July 31, 2008 12:52 PM

Our first anniversary is on Monday.  We both decided to take the day off and "celebrate". We have already given eachother our gifts (We are so bad with that) and will probably go out to dinner one night this weekend.  However, on Monday I plan on parking my butt by the pool and relaxing.  I told DH this plan a couple weeks ago and he was fine with it.  He plans on spending his day playing PS3 I am sure.  It's kinda hard to believe that we have been married a year already.  I remember our wedding like it was last week.  Crazy how time goes by.

I signed up for the grocery game in an attempt to cut down our grocery bill some more.  However, I don't really get it.  I clipped my coupons out of last Sunday's paper and today when I went to access the list half of the stuff that I need isn't even on the list?  Does anyone else do this?  Any advice you can offer me?   I know some of the girls on the Money Matter board use it so maybe I will ask over there.

I posted a previously about volunteering ect.  One of my co-workers told me about Tender Hearts and gave me a contact number.  I called and left a message today.  Fingers crossed that it all works out.

I started my exercise this week.  So far so good.  My sister recommended the Couch Potato to 5k plan.  (Google it)  So far so good.  I went running on Monday and yesterday.  I have shin splints like a mo fo but it will all workout.

PS I played hookie on Tuesday and it was fabulous.  No one but me and the kitties to hang out and relax.  It's nice to have some quiet time every once and a while.

explain this grocery game to me?? never heard of it. Sometimes it is so nice to just take a random day off and relax. I just don't understand these people who work somewhere for 20 years and never take a day off or have a sick day...whats the point? it isn't like you get a surprise ten grand for working everyday in a year...or recognized...I mean will it really matter on your deathbed that you never missed work?? ok tangent over...sorry!

Happy anniversary on monday!!

I use CouponMom, which is like grocery game, I believe, but I was under the impression that you need to pay for Grocery Game..

Any way - if it does indeed work the same, then you don't clip any coupons, just save the whole insert(s) and write the date clearly on the front of them.. drop them in a box or something...  each week the site will match up the best deals in your local stores, with unexpired coupons from ANY date (so it could be from a circular you have had for a while)...  then you cut that coupon and use it, preferably (if your store lets you) stocking up on that item when it is on sale...

It isn't really a "wait unitl you need it" kind of thing - you stock up on things you use when you can get the best deal instead...  HTH

MrsS.  I'm probably not a good one to explain it but I will try.  You clip all manufacter coupons from the sunday paper and weekly circular and then the website tells you which items are the best deals (advertised and unadvertised).  It is supposed to allow you to stock up on items thus reducing the number of items you need to buy on a weekly basis.  Does that make sense??  You might have better luck by going to the website and reading grocerygame.com

Todds wife -  The things that have the best deals are things that 1 don't keep (produce ect) or 2 things that I don't generally buy.  Just because they are a good deal doesn't mean that I should buy them right??

Happy 1 year anniversary!  Your anniversary date was my bridal shower date...just a little information.  Hope you guys have a nice day together.

I have never heard of the grocery game either...there is so much out there that I have never heard of.  I do utilize Pea Pod delivery sometimes through Stop & Shop when I am too lazy to go food shopping.

Nancy I used Peapod for a while but was spending too much money and felt guilty for being lazy...
