Must get in shape!

DH took some pictures of me today (my friends wanted pictures of my new, redder hair).  Well, I knew I was a little bigger, but my face was pure chub!  I know to a lot of people, 10-15 pounds is not a big deal, but I'm not exactly tall, and I'll never look like a model, so putting that weight on the past two years is not great.  I was fine with gaining 5-10 lbs in college after running cross country and track and working on the farm in high school.  But there is no excuse for this.  Even clothes that have never been tight as of last summer are this time.  I know size doesn't mean anything, but I liked being an 8.  I don't like having to get 10s or even 12s now.

DH did start going to the gym with me last week - he's put on some pudge too.  If he can help me stick with going to the gym and trying to eat healthier, I might be able to work back down.  The worst part is that he lost a lot of weight before we met by doing weird things like running 10 miles a day and eating salad and tuna fish only, and he thinks I should do the same thing.  I really hate when he tries to tell me how to lose weight.  I obviously have different issues than him (I'm female!), and I know that I cannot realisticly stand to eat salad every day or learn to drink diet soda.  I am cutting the soda and trying to eat salad at least as a side every day.  If I can drink water or tea, keep some low calorie snacks on hand, and keep going to the gym, I think I'll be fine.  My other incentive is the whole wanting to try for a baby sometime in the next year - I need to be in shape for that. Smile

re: Must get in shape!

I'm right there with you.  I'm only 5'4" and I agree, just a little extra weight makes a huge difference.  I weigh 137 pounds right now.  I was 127 when I got married.  What is it with marriage and weight!!!???  I don't eat any differently, although my every day exercising has dropped down to about three times a week.  I don't even drink soda or eat french fries or chips or any of that, but man, put some ice cream in front of me and it's all over!!!
