Teaming up for fitness - or not

Posted Wednesday, July 25, 2007 1:12 PM

So DH decided that we could both get up early (6am) and exercise so we wouldn't have to in the afternoons/evenings.  I thought it was a great idea because I hate getting up when he gets to lay there and sleep an extra 30 mins.  And if he gets up too, I'm more likely to go to the gym (I like it better than running outside).

That was the plan, but this morning, guess who decided it was too dark and rainy to get up . . . DH.  "I'll just run later - it's raining."  I told him he could have come to the gym with me.  "What time does it open?"  6am, he knew that because we looked up the hours at the beginning of the summer.

So now I have to go to the gym after work and I didn't get my shower this morning (I hate taking 2).  Grrrr.  This plan will work starting tomorrow - it's stupid to have 2 alarms set and just lie there and listen to them every 15 mins and get grumpy about getting up.

That's funny.  I can't get up early for the life of me.  I thought it'd be a great idea to work out in the mornings before work - well, it lasted one day.  It rained that first morning and was so dark, I just said forget it.  So I do it after work, shower at night, and just wash my face before work the next day.  But I'm the same way.  If my husband had to get up too, I'd get up.  But seeing him comfy and sleepy, and with my dogs cuddling against me, I just can't do it.

I know just how you feel.  I can never fit in exercise unless I do it first thing, but DH is the opposite and can never get out of bed.  It's annoying having to get up an hour before him, especially as I then need to go to bed earlier and DH is quite happy to stay up because he can sleep in.  At least you're perservering with exercise, despite not having the support you want!  (which is much better than I'm doing at the moment....)
