Spotting Update

Posted Friday, May 30, 2008 8:37 AM

Here's the timeline:

Friday night started spotting, light, not too big a deal.  Spotting continues to today, a full week later, getting somewhat heavier, only last night it changed to red and even more heavy, more like a normal flow.  Nurse said they couldn't do anything unless it changed to red or lasted more than a week . . . well those have both happened, but my guess is since it's Friday they will just tell me to wait until my appointment Monday, so I'm not gonna worry about calling.  That will just make me more freaked out.  DH doesn't seem concerned (he's not one to show his emotions), but my coworker says that's his method of coping.  I know he's somewhat worried because he did research online yesterday and was telling me it could still be alright and whatnot.  My frustration right now is that we go to Florida for vacation in one week.  I do not want to be wearing pads and bleeding when we go!  I want to be able to swim in the beautiful Gulf waters.  Any other time I'd just wear a tampon, but you're not allowed to do that in this condition.

Speaking of which, I haven't worn pads since I first got my period when I was too scared to use tampons.  Pads are evil!  I feel like I'm wearing a poopy diaper.  And DH says his sister uses pads, has never used tampons.  That poor thing . . .

re: Spotting Update

Are you sure you don't want to call the doctor?  There is no real harm in asking.  I hope that everything gets better.

Also, I wouldn't be able to stand having to wear pads on the beach.  I hate, hate, hate them.

re: Spotting Update

What really makes mad is that my life is on hold right now.  I want to be able to exercise, I want to make love to my husband, and I want to be able to clean my house.  This week, all I've done is sit in my chair at work all day, and then lay on the couch all night.  Occasionally I go run an errand, but that's it.  God help me if I ever end up on bedrest - I might end up killing someone.

And a quick note, I'm not gushing all over.  I just didn't want to ruin any undies, so I got some pads to wear.  I doubt I'll soak them that much.  My coworker says her sister had bright red bleeding for a day, and her son is 33 now.  Watch me go to the doc on Monday and have them tell me everything's fine.

re: Spotting Update

I'm just disgusted with the whole situation.  They don't tell you about all this stuff when you're thinking about getting pregnant.  Oh, and my coworker J also says that vacation could be a perfect time to try again if it doesn't work out this time . . .

re: Spotting Update

Something else to remember, think of all the women who have what seem to be normal periods, months into their pregnancies.  They bleed red and for days, and they have healthy babies.  I didn't mean to sound too worrisome in my last post, I just thought that maybe if you told them today, they might rush you in just because you keep calling and maybe give you better directions or ease your mind for the weekend so you don't have to drive yourself crazy or wait until Monday.

DH wants me to call the doctor . . . I guess I will closer to lunch.

re: Spotting Update

Going to the doctor sometime today, they're supposed to call me back and see when they can fit me in.  The nurse said medically it doesn't matter today or Monday, but it could make a huge difference for my peace of mind.  And DH said he wants me to go so we don't have to worry about it.

re: Spotting Update

I am so happy that they will let you go in today.  At least this should help keep your sanity over the weekend.  Otherwise, if I was in your situation, I don't think I would be able to relax at all.  I worry all the time.  Not knowing what was going on would drive me nuts.

re: Spotting Update

I'm glad you're going to the doctor.  You saw red, so it was time to go in.  I hope everything is fine.  And yes, pads super suck.  Since getting pregnant, I've had to wear a panty liner every single day (something else they don't tell you about) and I hate it.  I can't believe some women wear pads for AF and don't ever use tampons.

re: Spotting Update

Wow!  I'm getting quite an education from you ladies.  I thought that you completely stopped bleeding for the entire nine months of pregnancy.

I hope everything turns out okay at the doctor's and that you can enjoy your vacation to FL.  Please keep us posted!
