Request for Prayers

Posted Thursday, November 05, 2009 3:38 PM

One of my best friends from high school is 20 weeks pregnant. She and her husband went for their ultrasound last week (it's a boy!) and they found some swelling around the baby's brain. They went for further testing yesterday and found out the baby has spina bifida. While I'm sure the prognosis for this is better than it would have been many years ago, it is still a serious thing. Please pray for this couple and their baby! And if you have a healthy baby, go give them a big hug and thank God!

re: Request for Prayers

Definitely! One of Tyler's cousin has spina bifida, so I know the hardships that come along with it...Isn't there some sort of procedure that can be done before the baby is born to help? I thought I had heard something recently about that...

re: Request for Prayers

That is not good news at all.  Wil be thinking of them.  Just goes to show how important it is to take folic acid supplements before conception and for the first trimester...

re: Request for Prayers

A friend's niece has spina bifida fairly seriously (she has to use a walker all the time) but she seems like a very happy girl so hopefully things turn out ok for your friend!

re: Request for Prayers

That's really horrible.  I feel for them.  Doctors scare you with all these things your child could have (and overly enforce the prenatal vitamins) but you just never really think it will happen to you.  I hope their baby is healthy and lives a very fufilling life.  I'm sure they were chosen to have this baby for a reason - perhaps they are best suited to handle something like this over other people.

wow, that is terrible. I can't even imagine how they're feeling right now.  I will certainly keep them in my thoughts and prayers
