Chic Eco Linens Alert

Posted Friday, February 15, 2008 8:21 PM

Until recently it's been really hard to find cute organic cotton linens.  I love my bedding from Gaiam and Coyuchi, but it doesn't have a whole lot of flair or visual impact (it's all white, though they do make some other colors). But lately I've noticed that lots of brands both big and small are offering bedding and table linens in organic cotton and other eco-friendly materials, and some of them are really stylish. I love these chic napkins from a new organic linens company called Ortolan. I just ordered four in black.  The melon hue they also come in was tempting but since they're pricey I decided to go with a classic color.

Although Ortolan isn't cheap, organic cotton is starting to go mainstream, especially for bedding and bath gear. Check out these really affordable sheet sets from Target (not high design, but they at least come in lots of colors beyond white). And Pottery Barn and Garnet Hill are two other mega-brands selling organic cotton. Let's hope that this eco-trend continues and that soon we'll be never have to sacrifice style in order to outfit our homes in organic fabrics.
