Waist Not

When skinny jeans hit the fashion scene, I didn’t exactly run to the store to pick up a pair. It took months to finally break down and buy.
Mostly I was concerned that the uber-tight fit would accentuate my pear shaped figure. So, buying a pair meant I first had to find just the right outfit (for me, it’s heels and a natural-waist top). And voila, three pairs later I can proudly say I’m a skinny jeans convert.
And of course, now that I’ve finally committed there’s a new trend on the horizon: high waist wide-leg pants. I have to say: I’m definitely a fan of waistlines creeping up (the low styles just don’t hide my “problem areas”), but these 70s style pants simply are not flattering no matter which way you wear ‘em.
Hey, if Jessica Simpson and Fergie can’t pull it off then who am I to try? After over a year of donning the skinnier styles, it’s difficult to get comfortable with wider denims.
Top 3 tips for buying "bigger" jeans:
1. Dark denim styles are slimming
2. Trim thighs by avoiding patch front pockets
3. Hem is everything: too short can look boxy and too long leaves you swimming in fabric.
