Jersey Girl

With Superbowl weekend fast approaching I thought it only appropriate to bring to light one of my least favorite trends in football fashion: Pink jerseys!!

I mean seriously, what is the deal? If you are a sports fan then you should really be wearing your team's colors. Think about it: what manly 250 lb. football player is really going to get inspired looking into the stands at a sea of pink?

And, if you're not a fan, why waste your money on a jersey in the first place?

Sorry, this one just irks me... Do you have any trends (sports related or otherwise) that get under your skin?

And, if someone could shed some light on the pink jersey phenomenon... please do.

re: Jersey Girl

I never really thought about it, but assumed the pink benefitted breast cancer research.  But, after reading your post, I checked and "not the case".  Hmmm.  Misleading.

The trend I don't really care for right now - those shorter sleeved/short length'd jackets.  Reminds me of Chris Farley - "fat guy in a little coat" scene with arms and shirt sleeves hanging way below jacket sleeves.

I'd rather wear a pink jersey!

re: Jersey Girl

I am a hockey girl, and I would NEVER be caught dead in one of those pink tops!!! I get frustrated by the fact that other than the pink team sweaters I can't find a sweater or anything warmer than a tshirt for girls that aren't pink!!! hello it's a hockey rink it's freaking cold in there??? why do we need itty bitty tops??

I know I'm a little late on this but I was attracted to this article by the Hines Ward pink jersey.  I am a HUGE Hines fine and I am proud to wear the black and gold version at every game!

I know... isn't he the best?!! I felt slightly bad putting up in the pink jersey, but the thought of promoting any other player was worse!

re: Jersey Girl

I am horribly offended by pink jerseys. My school even offers team tees in teal and purple.  Hello!? If you want to wear purple, go to Northwestern.  I cringe when I see women and girls wearing pink jerseys. I would rather them not wear a team shirt at all.  DH and I joke that our daughters will be raised better than to ask for a pink jersey. It's orange and blue or nothing!

re: Jersey Girl

I don't see the pink jersey as offensive at all. No I do not wear one cause if I am supporting my team then I wear Blue and Silver. It is a person's perogative as to what they want to wear and I guess some girls feel better in pink. I don't think they are true sports fans at all cause you have to wear the colors. That was like finding a blue and white Purdue shirt when the colors are clearly Old Gold and Black. Hello. It is a total misrepresentation of the team and their true fans. These jerseys are for the girls who just want to impress a guy by making them think they are into sports when they truly could give a crap less.
