Part time jobs

DH and I have been applying for them right and left for the holiday season. Any place (pretty close to home) that hires seasonal workers we have submitted our apps but the phone has yet to ring once. At first I only want to work weekday evenings and Sunday but then I opened it up to Saturday also. I really didn't want to but I thought that might be the hold up. I know there are people without a job at all and I should be glad I have one but we really need to extra income with Christmas right around the corner.

Also we have tried really hard to only have one car payment at a time. We owe $4500.00 on the current car loan. I really want to pay it off so we can replace our older car. It is not running very well and I am scared that we will be in the major repair time if we wait much longer. This extra income would help that a lot. Once that was paid off I plan on buying a cheaper car this time and the payment being smaller. That way any extra can go to our debit that we are trying to pay off without a ton of success. We have manager not to accrue any new debit in a year or so but I want it gone. It's $23,000.00 in student loans (DH) and credit cards (both).

Oh well I hope we get a bite some place. Everyone else that is looking for full/part time work best wishes to you. Maybe I am old school but it's tough when everything is online and then you just never hear anything.

ugh! Cars suck!  They cause so much worry and are so bloody expensive aren't they?  They make me so mad.

Good for both of you trying to pick up a second job.  I would totally do it if school would allow and am tryign to convince MH to do the same.

Dh and I have been dragging our feet about replacing the other car but that has to stop!!! I started looking around for ideas of prices and I had STICKER SHOCK. Goodness driving is expensive!!! I need a job I can ride a bike to.

Yeah, finding a side job is really tough these days.  Hope something pans out for you.  I miss the time when you could just walk into somewhere and speak to an owner/manager and get hired on the spot.  Even now if you show up with the on-line app all filled out, they won't talk to you, just let you hand it in and say 'thanks'

re: Part time jobs

Chris and I both have our cars paid off and now we really need one - but we cannot understand how we both used to pay car payments because now we have no idea where that money would come from!  We were spoiled and now thinking about having a monthly payment for a car kills us!  Good luck.  As for finding holiday work, I'm sure something will come up.  Perhaps people feel you are way too qualified to work at their place.

good luck finding a part time job. You'll definetly have to open yourself up to Saturdays to make it happen. your there for such a short period of time they'll want you whenever they can get you.

re: Part time jobs

I agree. Job searching online is so impresonal. And people never feel obligated to let you know that they went with someone else. I never thought I'd love the sight a rejection note in my mail box, but it's better than silence.

*Good Luck in your job search!*
