I tried to be a sneaky bride...

So I guess I'm not the only one who has seen the "Best Wedding Dance Ever" video.  As we speak, this little video is busily infecting the email accounts of all my friends and family.  Like SARS.  Or Britney's va-jay-jay.

I know this because people have sent this to me with the Subject Line: Great Idea!  Jen~Check this out!  And not just anyone.  My fiance's mother.  My mother.  Any day now, I know I'll get one from my great-great-grandmother.

The very people I pictured jaw-dropping to our lock-n-pop wedding dance.  The very people I imagined would be wiping away tears and slapping their knees, shaking their heads and saying: "That Jen!  Woo-hoo, what will she do next?"

*Please excuse this blog interruption*

THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SURPRISE!  I wanted MY (meaning, of course, our) wedding dance the be THE BEST EVER!  It's NOT FAIR!

*Now back to our regulary scheduled blog*

So, as you can tell, I'm in a bit of a pickle.  At first, I thought my answer was obvious.  Ignore the videos.  Pretend like maybe they fell out of my inbox or got lost in the transmission.  Proceed as planned, and unveil our surprise at the wedding.  Which worked for about 2 days.  Then fiance's mother re-sent the video.  I stuck to my plan.  Then she questioned him about it when he went to her house.  As far as I can tell, the conversation went like this:

"Did Jen get that dance video I sent her?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Oh.  Well, did she say anything about it?"

"Uh."

"Well, I think that would be a great idea for the two of you."

"Uh."

"Do you have anything planned for your first dance yet?"

"I don't know, Mom, you should ask Jen."

Geez.  I think it's kinda late to be playing the stick-my-head-in-the-sand game.  I know my mother will grill me about the video next time I see her, too.  Do I tell these web-savvy, well-meaning mothers that we have it all planned out?  Do I make up some outrageous lie, like we're not planning on having a first-dance?  Or do I come clean about the whole surprise, and enlist their help?  Or do I just cut their modem lines?

re: I tried to be a sneaky bride...

Sorry to hear that the video leaked out...but I guess it's been making it's way around everywhere...it flew around my place of work just a few weeks ago, and of course I got the same emails in my inbox..."Check this out", "You should do this".  Hey in my opinion I say of course still go for it...I LOVE the idea.  Make the mom's believe that you are just doing the traditional slow song first dance because you, "feel it's more meaningful" and then the day of the wedding bust out with your routine.  Good Luck!!

I haven't gotten the video!!  But I think our families are expecting something from us since we've been taking dance lessons since we first started dating.  (Totally his idea!)  We started to learn the choreography our dance teacher did for our fun dance three weeks ago and it's going to be a riot.  I posted about it in one of my earlier blogs.  It includes some hip wiggling and dramady as well as dancing. =)

Seen it! Loved it! Planned on doing it! Then saw the video blow up and decided to do it to someone very unexpectedly. During Unforgettable by Nat and Natalie Cole, dancing with my father-in-law, Temperature by Sean Paul will break in. He's no idea it's going to happen.

First dance....Like some of you our families wonder what to expect for our first dance.  It will be as soon as we enter the recption hall and are introduces.  The real song is "Lost in this Moment"  but when the dj announces us a cues the music Britney's "OOPS I did it again" will play!!  (It is both our 2nd marriages).  We won't dance to the whole song but I can't wait to see the reactions!!!!
