There's a DJ on the horizon

The biggest accomplishment this week-end was finding a DJ. After checking out all the flyers and websites I collected at the Bridal Show and googling "Sacramento DJ" in a million different ways, I thought this would be an impossible task. I thought: there's no way I can hire a DJ from 500 miles away. A DJ is pretty high priority for me. I'd take a more experienced DJ over a less-experienced photographer anyday. It's all about living in the NOW. As in, I want a great party NOW, not great photos of an okay party. Anyway, I finally posted on my local board and actually got a great lead.
His website has tons of information on it: questions to ask the DJ, what the DJ should ask you, how to pick the right songs for your wedding, whether to do group dances, and the three levels of DJ's. There's DJ (just plays music), Master of Ceremonies (announcements and call-outs), then there's Entertainer. This DJ claims to be an Entertainer, someone who knows how to pump up the crowd and keep everyone going. That's what I want. I took a look at some of his online videos, and was totally hooked. I got really excited, and kept saying: "OMG, honey, I think I found our DJ!"
And he fits in the budget, to boot. I can hire him for 6 hours (plus ceremony) for $750 or extend it to 8 hours for $900. Either way, I'm in the budget. Woo-hoo!
I can't wait until he sends me his contract, so I can look it over. The knottie who recommended him said he was very outgoing and energetic, and our emails seem to flow nicely so far.
So I've got the majority of the big-ticket items down: Location, dress, and now DJ. Next up this month: photographer.
