9 months Away!

Posted Friday, April 11, 2008 4:41 AM

Today we hit our 9 month mark. This is a bit misleading, I realized this month.  Because in a few days, the countdown will be 8 months and some odd days.  And then 8.5 months.  So my count is a little bit off, but we won't haggle over a few days!

I've been working on our favors.  They've turned out beautiful!  I can't believe how they managed to come together so nicely.  Only hitch is, they take hours to make!  Seriously, last night it took me 3 hours to make 7 beaded snowflakes.  My goal is to make 50 a month, so it should take me aout 3 months to bang out.  That's manageable, I guess.  Good thing I don't work a ton of hours and have lots of free time!  This is definetley a labor of love!

<This is where I would post a pic if my computer was running right!>

In the meantime, my DIY projects have been piling up.  I bought some pinecones (from a Xmas sale in April!) and started painting them to look snow-tipped.  I'm having trouble finding the perfect glitter though.  The only thing I love is my Wet N Wild Mega Eye Sparkle, and I need to conserve that glitter for very important occasions!  I ordered some from the internet, so we'll see how that turns out.  I want to use them as a bow center for the aisle chairs.

Michaels was having a huge sale last week, so I bought all the ribbon we need for our handfasting.  I would like to craft that on our 7 year anniversary, so we'll wait two more months to do that.  I also totally sold out and bought some "I Do" letters.  They're light wood, so I'll need to paint and decorate those too.  They were only $3 for all.  I couldn't pass them up.

I also found some very detailed instructions on how to make a guest book quilt, so I have an idea of what I'm doing at least!  I just need to spend a few weeks collecting the neccessary supplies.  I'll gather everything slowly with my 40% coupons for Joann's and Michaels.

On a NWR note: My triathlon is on Saturday!  I'm scared.  I've been training for six months, but I haven't been on top as my game as I should have been (damn Knot!).  The 1/3 mile swim is in Lake Las Vegas.  The water is so cold I have to wear a wetsuit and every time I put my face in the dirty, murky water I get clausterphobic and breathe in the freezing, dirty, murky water.  The cold water hurts my lungs and makes me gasp and cough.  That's followed by a 6 mile bike ride over very hilly terrain.  The first mile is completly uphill and I have to stop to wheeze and gasp at .5 mile.  The second mile is downhill, and I've clocked myself at 24 mph (remember, there are 1,000 other girls also going 24 mph down this mile-long hill), the third mile is another steep hill, and the last hill at mile 5 is so tiny that I laugh all the way up it.  Then I get to get off my bike and run 3 miles.  Up another hill.

So I'm scared of drowning, of crashing, and of tripping, but mostly I'm scared of a DNF (that's Did Not Finish).  I figure if I can make it through the hellish swim, I'm in the clear.  The bike will be a struggle, but I can make it.  And the run I'm not worried about.  If worse comes to worse, I can walk!  Finishing is a just a matter of putting one foot in front of the other!

Wish me luck!

WOW!  You are one busy lady! :)  I'm glad to hear the favors are coming along ... would really love to see them when you can get the technological kinks worked out. :)  You're smart for having a gameplan/minimum per month to make sure they get done - I'm glad you have the time to do them all!

I am REALLY impressed with this triathalon business!  I'm sure you'll finish - that feeling of it being possible will override your exhaustion/nervousness.  Just keep your mind right while you're doing it - inspire yourself: verses, songs, quotes, images, etc.  I can't wait to hear all about it -- make sure someone gets a fantastic picture of you coming up for air, laughing up the hill, and crossing that finish line!

You will do fine with the Triathalon!  If I lived in the area I would so be there to root for you!  I will be doing so from the east coast.

Slow and steady wins the race with your favors...there is plenty of time and I know they will be beautiful.
