I did however buy some RSVP postcard stamps today. Here, I am admitting a public Bridezilla moment. The only postcard stamps the post office has are these pretty ones:

Here's how the conversation went:

Me: "Do you have any other designs? I don't like these ones."

Post Office Worker: "These are it."

"Are you sure? Even a flag or a liberty bell is better."

"Uh...no. These are all we have." Pointedly looks at the long line behind me.

"Can you check for me, please? These are going on my wedding invitations and frankly, they look like giant vaginas. They're disgusting."

"These are all we have." Squints at the stamps. "I guess some of these do look like...that. Do you want a 17 cent and a 10 cent stamp instead?"

"No." I angrily throw my money on the counter. "I'll just assault all my guest's eyes with Post Office Porn. Thank you very much."

So I licked all those giant vaginas and stuck them to my RSVP postcards. But I wasn't happy about it.

There will be Tears

I bought some wedding handkerchiefs from ebay tonight.

One is for Matt's Mom. It says: "Thanks for raising your son to be the man of my dreams." The other is for my Mom. It says: "Mom, to dry your tears the way you have always dried mine." Both list Matt and my names, and our wedding date. Of course, they are hand-embroidered with snowflakes. ($41 from store The Memory Collection Keepsakes)

I toyed with the idea of making my own, but looking into what was required was too much work. Maybe if I knew how to embroider in the first place, it would be feasible. If someone were to sell these kits so that brides could embroider their own, they would make a ton of money. It would be much cooler if this project came from my own hand, but oh well.

I can't wait to give this to my mom. I'm always on the look-out for presents that will make her cry. She's such a sap. She'll definetly cry over this.

I had such a fantastically lucky day today. First, the scale dropped to a new low. Then, I pulled some hand-me-down knee-high pointy-toed stilleto boots from underneath my bed to try them on again and they finally zipped up! For the last year, my calves have been too fat to wear these, but I rocked them today! Then, because of a computer glitch at Michaels, I got an extra $3 back. I pointed out the mistake, but the cashier shrugged and said that's how it works, so I took it! Then, at Kinko's, the enlarging machine was down, but the employee said she might be able to make it work for what I wanted to do. It worked, and she gave me the enlargements for free since I was "an experiment." Wooh-hoo! That's another $10 in the wedding budget. I toyed with the idea of putting all my wedding savings on Black and letting the ball drop where it may, but I thought I shouldn't press my luck!

Cleaning My Grill

I recieved my first present today. My Best Friend/Bridesmaid called it a "Shower Present," but I think she's just spoiling me. I just gotta say she is the best best-friend a girl can have and I'm so lucky to have her in my life. She also kicks butt in planning a wedding.

I got a coupon for a paid Teeth Whitening! Yay! This was definetly on my list of to-do's and now it's free. I'm blown away by her generosity, and also by her thoughtfulness.

Now I have to get her a Rockin' Bridesmaid present. I'm racking my brain to come up with something. It has to be heart-felt, meaningful, and totally perfect for her. Jeez, I suck at presents.

I'll probably browse findagift.com for a few hours before rejecting every present on there, like I do every Christmas. Hmm...I see a lot of online window-shopping in my future!

What's the best present you've ever been given?

Cupcake Meeting

Our friend George came over tonight. He has volunteered to make our wedding cake as a present. Total score. This guy is so talented in the kitchen that I practically salivate whenever we get a dinner-invite. He's made a few wedding cakes before, and tonight I got to look through his portfolio. I'm very impressed.

This is what we decided: Wedding cupcakes with a small "showpiece" cake we'll use for photo opps. Very similar to this:

I was in love with the cupcake idea since I first heard about it. Matt and I aren't huge cake fans, so this is perfect for us. I've gotten a few raised eyebrows, and I'm looking forward to our guest's reactions when they see our cupcake tower.

We'll have chocolate, vanilla and red velvet cakes with white cream cheese frosting and put blue snowflakes on them. Instead of a cake topper, George is going to craft a "snow-scene" on top of the cake with snow-covered trees. On the sides of the showpiece cake there will be mountains similar to these:

All the cupcakes will have light blue wrappers so that they look like tiny, snow-capped mountains.

George lives in Las Vegas, but has already planned on coming to our wedding in Sacramento a day or two early to help us get everything set up. He has volunteered to help decorate and will be invited to our rehearsal dinner. This means he'll be making cupcakes at my Aunt's house in Sacramento and will decorate and transport the cupcakes to our venue. What a friend! This is a totally rad wedding present.

Bonus: We whipped up some cream cheese frosting just to try, and it tasted like heaven in my mouth. Mmmm....

A Case of the Cold Feet?

Matt and I have been fighting like crazy lately. I don't know if it's because of our latest attempt to quit smoking (I know, like the tenth attempt this year, we're so weak), or if Matt's dealing with his best friend's death (he was kind of like this the year his father died), or if it's cold feet.

I'm going with "All the Above."

Things we've been fighting about:

Money

Who cleans the house more

Who cleans the house better

Who buys more groceries

Who spends wastefully and who spends wisely

If we should buy a house or live forever in an RV

Who lied to whom (about smoking behind each other's back)

Who's being a bigger ***

Yuck. I hate fighting. I don't know if it's us just hashing everything out before getting married, or trying to sabotage our relationship so we don't get married. We've made up a million times in the last month.

Last night I reminded him that we've been together 7 years (yes, we're both kinda committment-phobes) and that there's no one in this world either one of us would rather be with.

Then we started fighting about what to do with the wedding money we recieve as gifts.

Things are good between us now, though. Everyday we try to remember to treat each other nicely. Sometimes it's hard though.

Aint No Party like a Las Vegas Party!

Sorry I've been MIA lately. I've been having computer problems. But now they're fixed. So I can tell everyone about my fabulous Bachelorette Party Plans!!!

We doing New Year's Eve in Las Vegas. I'm so excited. My friends from California will be coming up to spend one of Las Vegas' best holidays with me! We're avoiding The Strip (way too crowded, too crazy, and too far!) and instead will be hitting up a ton of local bars and dancing and drinking all night.

Yes, you heard right. We'll be drinking and dancing and driving to bars...in the Rock Star Party Bus I've rented!!

Isn't this the most awesome thing ever?! The Rock Star Party Bus holds up to seats up to 24 passengers, has leather or leopard print interiors, Fiber Optic Lighting, Neon Lighting, Laser light Shows, 42 inch Flat Screen Plasma TVs, DVD players, CD Players , Satellite Radio, Wet Bar Area, Privacy Partition, and of course, passenger Controls. Best of all: it has 2 stripper poles!!

We'll be riding around Las Vegas in total style! I can't wait for this night!

The Party Bus rents out at $166 per hour (taxes and gratuity included). We're going for 6 hours, from 9pm to 3 am. We'll be hitting as many bars as I can squeeze in, and then ending the night at my favorite home bar. Most of the drinking will on the Bus, with small pit stops at the bars just so we feel like we're going somewhere!

Now I just need to learn a few pole tricks and I'll be ready to ride!

It's a Sculpture, it's Art, No! It's a Napkin!

I'm always on the look-out for inexpensive wedding decorations. I really think that it's the little touches that make a wedding truly unique. Thankfully, I have a lot of time on my hands (I love my job!), so I have hours to think of really cheesy ideas.

Like Napkin Folding.

Ooooh....I know right? Genuis. The napkins are already supplied by the venue, so I only have to pick a design and then assign the thankless task to my lackey...I mean my little brother.

I came across this site: http://www.napkinfoldingguide.com Not only do they have easy step-by-step photo instructions, but they are super witty. Seriously, this is the funniest Napkin Folding Website I've ever read. ; )

So this is the Napkin Fold I picked:

Cute, huh?

According to the website: This nice napkin design originated from the napkin-worshiping indians native to Guam called the dirty-wipey-nappies...

I'm thinking of placing a snowflake punch-out on the napkin, because I put snowflakes on everything. Also because the snowflake is historically significant to the Dirty-Wipey-Nappies Tribe, of course.

There are tons of options to choose from on the Napkin Folding Guide. Check out these cute designs:

The Fleur De Lyse Fold

 The Rose Fold

 And the Shirt Fold!

So, what do you think? Any designs appeal to you?

Feeling a little blue...Down There?!

I came across this while surfing the net (BettyBeauty.com) and just had to share with my fellow Knotties.

*giggles uncontrollably*

I'm almost tempted to whip this out for my special day. I know I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face as I seductively whisper "Husband, I have a Wedding Night Surprise for you..." Can you imagine his horror? I've been teasing him all day about his special surprise and then I whip off my ruffly blue underwear...and he thinks I'm still wearing my ruffly blue underwear!

Hahahahahahaha!

Seriously though. It's a sexy idea. In a Smurf-y kinda way. What do you think, girls? Anyone brave enough to venture...down there?
