Random musings, thoughts, experiences that happen in my life. Yes, I live in Seattle, and no, it doesn't really rain all the time. I just thought it would be funny to use the word umbrella in my title. Beware, I write in parentheses (a lot).

The Queen of Procrastination.

I have a problem with procratinating. Sometimes out of laziness, sometimes out of forgetfulness. Sometimes I tend to over extend myself and I just can't get everything done.

For instance, in July I bought the cutest Thanksgiving fabric at Joann's and I promised my cousin I'd make us matching aprons for Thanksgiving. The fabric sat untouched for months....finally, last Monday night (the Monday before Thanksgiving) I made the aprons. I was flying out the next day, Tuesday, to Southern California for the holiday week and it was my last chance to make the aprons. I was up until nearly 2 AM finishing the stupid things!

We spent the past week in Southern California visiting several friends and family, and we were offline the whole time, and did not do any shopping while we were there. We got back yesterday afternoon, and I am totally feeling the stress of Christmas shopping now. Normally I am totally ahead for Christmas and have most of my shopping/crafting done by Thanksgiving. Not this year...

We leave next week to go on a cruise to Mexico from the 13th to the 20th, and following our cruise we fly straight to Idaho to spend 6 days with my sister's family for the holidays. So basically I have this week and next week to get all our shopping done, and to pack all the gifts up to ship to the various family members, including all the stuff that will be going to my sister's house (plus we have to ship some winter clothes to Idaho since we'll be coming from a Mexican cruise and do not want to travel the whole time with both winter and summer clothes).

The most disappointing thing I found today is that the Dutch chocolate letters my husband would like are nearly impossible to find this late. It's a Christmas tradition in Holland for people to give their close friends and family a chocolate letter of the person's first initial. Even though my husband was born/raised in Canada, his parents immigrated to Canada from Holland and they are very involved in the Dutch immigrant community in Southwestern Ontario. Peter always orders chocolate letters for his co-workers, and since we've been together we have bought them for our friends and my family. I have spent hours today online trying to order them, but most stores are out of many of the letters (which makes sense because the Dutch tradition is really to give them out on the 4th of December when Sinterklaas makes his visit to Holland).

Ahhh!!! Why didn't I order them in October like I did last year?
