It's okay now...

We are now one and a half years away from our wedding, and I feel like it's okay to publicly, officially announce that we're planning for our wedding. Granted I've been pretty much planning this day ever since I was a little girl, and then more so as soon as we got engaged (6 months ago). But I couldn't shake the feeling of being a little ashamed of how excited I was, especially when people asked us when the wedding date was, or when even fellow brides snubbed me (or other long-engagement brides) when I commented on the boards or asked questions (this happened very few times for me, but I was so scared to ever comment or ask a question again).

Congrats to all you beautiful brides (for those with short-term and long-term engagements)! Thanks to the ones who expressed the same excitement and long engagements! And thanks to those who were not judgmental and mean!

Long engagements can be a VERY smart choice for those brides (and grooms) who are on a budget, are really young, or are trying to remain organized and not rush planning the perfect wedding day.

And so I have no regrets in choosing to have a long engagement. I only wish that people who have negative criticism say nothing at all. I'm all up for constructive criticism though!

personally I am having a long engagement also and I wouldn't have it any other way... gives me time to plan things slowly so I don't lose my mind at the last min. Good luck with your planning!!!

I'm long engagement too!  It took me a whole year to find a location, since we don't live where we will get married.  Everyone tells you to book a year in advance, but it seems like all my vendors laughed when I told them my date.  Our long engagement helped us get our lives organized too, paying off bills, deciding where to live, etc.  Congratulations to you!  Don't mind those meanies!
