Q: What's the best thing to say to people who ask when we're having a baby?

A: We hear that “None of your business” doesn’t go over very well, although it is effective for getting people off your back.

If you’re trying to be polite, coyly (and vaguely) say something like, “Maybe someday” or “We’re not sure we will” and they should get the point. But we have found that people who ask this question don’t realize how extremely personal this topic can be and therefore they don’t easily get the point. So if they keep prodding, feel free to say, “It’s just a very personal and private decision, so we aren’t discussing it with people right now.” Hey, they asked. That should shut them up!

I just say "We welcome surprises but we're working on us being at the best place we can be for that time"

I try to make it a joke and say, "Were still paying off the wedding.  One thing a time here people."
