Flying Poo and Smiles

Yesterday was Seth's one month b-day and we had a doctor's appt for him. He is now almost 10lbs!!!! He has gained almost 3lbs in three weeks!

You know your a parent when you're cleaning poo off the walls, lol. Yesterday evening, I was just about to put a clean diaper on Seth when he pooped on the change table. SO I yelled to Danny to get me another wipe, I was holding Seth's legs up when Danny was about to hand me the wipe when POO went flying acoss the room, hit the change table, the dipaer pail, the carpet, the WALL, and even the curtains! I jumped back. LOL It was quite the clean-up. Seth looked pretty content afterwards. Little bugger!

This morning I was holding Seth face to face with me and I was talking to him when he shot me a ton of smiles! One after the other!  IT was SO cute - and these were different than the gassy smiles he was having before. Great moment! He's also starting to stare at me while BFing, it's so great to to see that the little wheels are turning in his tiny little head!

So BIL's wedding is in a couple weeks. We're going to be travelling to NB for it, which is a 4 hour drive. Then after that we're going to go back to our hometown for two weeks. The second week Danny will be hunting. I'm nervous about travelling with Seth. To NB won't be too bad, it's a 4 hour drive but then to from NB to our hometown it's another 5 hours. That means on the way back here it's almost a ten hour drive. We might have to cut it in half and stay a night halfway. Especially with all the feeding Seth has been doing, it might take way longer.   I'm excited about the wedding and going home but I'm also a little stressed. It feels like we just finished the whole 'tons of visitors' phase and now we're going to go back home and it's going to start all over again. I'm excited to show him off but it's so tiring at the same time.  Also the fact that Seth feeds pretty much ALL day long isn't going to be easy while we're away, espescially the weekend we're away for BIL's wedding and staying in a hotel.  I'm not worried about BFing in public, I have my nursing shawl and it works well, but Seth is fussy in the evenings when he is cluster feeding so it's going to be hard to deal with it while we're there. I may have to just go up to the hotel and miss out on the reception a bit...   Hopefully Seth will be done with this clusterfeeding phase by then, oh one can dream right?

*Sigh* I'm never able to comment on your blogs anymore because I rarely have two free hands and when I do I get myself something to eat lol. From everything I've read, things with baby settle down around 6-8 weeks, right now we're on week 5, 3 to go!

Seth is waking up now, well that was a good 10 minute break! I shouldn't complain, at least I am getting sleep throughout the night.

Funny story!  Oh, the things I can't wait to experience myself, lol....

Good luck with the travel.  I expect it will be hard, and will affect any routine you've gotten Seth into.  I hope the wedding is fun at least!

Good luck with traveling!  We took Jax on a long drive from the middle of the ND to the other side of MT for a friend's wedding and he did fabulous.  I think we broke it into 8 hours of driving every day making sure to stop whenever he got fussy (anywhere; I breastfed @ truck stops, McDs, laundromat parking lots!)  Are either of you in the wedding?  I found it a little more stressful since Andy was in our friend's wedding and I had no other support there; but once the reception started it was great!

And that's a cute story about the flying poop!  :D

re: Flying Poo and Smiles

Just wait until he can take off his diaper and smear poop all over his crib and the walls as self entertainment - that's something my cousin did to my aunt.

re: Flying Poo and Smiles

I'm with you, I have gotten really good at typing one handed. lol OMG! He is ten pounds?! Lily is 8 1/2 pounds! lol! Is the reception at the hotel you are staying at? This last weekend, I was in the wedding, the reception was at a barn at a berry farm, and I had to ask the bartender where I could feed Lily/pump. I ended up feeding her in the guy's personal house in his kitchen. Awkward. lol And Lily is now starting to really grin also, I love it! She gave Wyatt a big smile this morning. I absolutely love how to gazes up at me while feeding, and she has been playing with my shirt/bra/necklace and such for a couple weeks now while she feeds. I love it! Glad to hear from you, and good luck with the wedding and traveling. It is tough, because you have to go around him. You may be able to hold it for an hour, but he can't. lol

The ten hour drive might be really hard - I would break it up.  The other two drives should be okay.  Thankfully newborns don't realize that being strapped down to a car seat sucks yet.

re: Flying Poo and Smiles

I recently drove from ottawa to my hometown...well when Nicho was 4 months. On the way there we stopped outside NB and than made it all the way up north without stopping again. We drove from out east (an additional 12 hours) and basically we had to stop every 3 to 4 hours but only for like 30 mins to feed him and change his diaper. So with a newborn you might not have to spend the night anyways but may need to stop for a bit.
