A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

I find our house looks messy one day then tidy the next then messy again.... I finally was able to do some tidying this morning. Cleaning is hard when you have a baby.

So we went to the LC on Friday, and she gave us a few tips on how to cope with the fast flow and the colic. Mainly the best way to feed with a fast flow is leaning back (or all the was on your back) or on your side. She also recommended giving Seth a probiotic, so we picked some bio gaia up yesterday and are going to try giving it to him each day. I've read some good things about it. Also I think I may bring him to my chiro, she specializes in pregnancy and infants. Danny thinks the chiro is a waste of time, but I swear by it and we're covered - I think using everything we have to make our baby comfortable is worth it. He doesn't mind bringing him he just doesn't think it will help, but I think it's worth a try.

Seth isn't too bad at nights. Last week we tried just putting him in his swing and Danny didn't want me to pick him up when he cried. I didn't and it felt horrible, he only cried for a few minutes but it felt like an hour. The next night, I decided that I would jsut go lay upstairs with him, lay him on my chest and let him cry on me, that way I'm there to comfort him and he won't feel alone. Well it worked. He would cry for a few minutes, eat, then sleep then wake, cry eat, sleep, and so on until he fell into a deep sleep.

We went and hung out with our friends S and W on Saturday. I went baby shopping with S and her daughter H, while Danny went to the movies with W. It was a good time except Seth was pretty fussy in the car. I had to hold him pretty much the whole time we were shopping. I've been using my sling a lot more but he doesn't like it too much I think it's cause the fabric is restricting, it's linen and thus not very stretchy. I'm going to look into getting a wrap. Anyways, I got a ton of baby clothes for a pretty good price and I picked up the Baby Book by Sears. This book is great. it gives tons of info and lots of ideas, I really wish I would have had this book before having Seth, I think I would have done alot differently at the hospital.

Tomorrow we're going to see our friends N and B. They just had a baby girl two weeks ago. I can't wait to see them and hold the baby :) Seth is so big now, I forget how small a newborn is. Ok Seth is still considered a newborn at 2 months, but he is so big now, he's fitting into 3month and some 6 month clothes, and his socks are sized 12-18 months - he has big feet for a baby! Danny's hoping he becomes a football or hackey player with his size lol.

Okay, I know all I talk about now is Seth but I can't help it - my life revolves around him now :) He's starting to make SO many different sounds, sometimes I swear he is saying "hi" haha, I love the "goos" and "gaas" and the HUGE smiles he shoots at us (even if it's followed by a loud cry!)... He's starting to really stare at his hands. Danny and I are both lefties and it looks like Seth may be one also, the last couple days I've caught him holding his left hand an inch away from his face and just starting at it. He only does this with his left hand! So I guess time will tell.  I know there's a lot of controversy around bed sharing, but I have to say I feel the best thing we've done as parents so far is deciding to bed share.  It's so much easier to feed at night, it doesn't even bother me that there are nights where I'm up every two hours, since I'm not up very long.  I feel like Seth is safer sleeping on me or next to me, and I know he also feels better this way.  I love waking up to my peaceful baby beside me or with my baby grinning at me with the cutest little smile.  I really didn't think I would bed share before having Seth but I had no idea how special it would feel :)

My brother, J and his partner D are coming this weekend to finally see Seth! He called me yesterday asking what we needed and what we wanted for Seth, I think they're pretty excited and may go overboard with the gifts lol. He told me they had a huge stuffed dog in the backseat of their car already hah  I really don't know where we're going to put this dog...??.

Well I better get going before Seth wakes from his nap!

Happy hump day!

How is your brother?  I was thinking about him the other day.

re: A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

J2's girlfriend S's brother just had a baby Monday (well, he didn't, his gf did), and they live about 20 minutes from us. S is coming back to stay with us and go see them Friday and I can't wait to hold a brand new baby! And Brinlee only weighed 5 lbs 9 oz at birth, so she will be even smaller than Lily was! But I still can't wait.

And that is so funny about the socks. Lily has such small feet, most of the socks we have for her don't fit! We think she is going to be very small, though. Josh's dad's mom is only 4'6" and almost all the women on Josh's side are short (like 5' tall). So we will see. :D

Glad the LC thing went well and I hope the chiro goes well. I looooove going to the chiropractor but Josh is like totally against it. He has been sore and stiff lately and I keep telling him to go to the chiro but he absolutely refuses. Hm. Anyway...jeez, I always write a novel on your posts. lol

Baby socks are definitely sized small!  Boston had long feet and he was in 12 month socks right away, even though he was in newborn or 3 month clothes!

That's a great idea about the chiro for him, hopefully it will help!

re: A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

I would take my baby to the chiro for sure. DH and I both love ours and he adjust many babies/children including his daughter. It is worth the trip to see if that is making Seth uncomfortable. Glad your exploring the option.

Peter and I are both left handed too! We have a friend who is a genetic counselor, and she said that two left handed people have a 50% chance of having a left handed child. We are hoping Martha will be left handed too :-)

It sounds like things are really going well with you.  Thanks for such a big update and good luck with the chiro etc.
