Ode to my MAC Eyeshadow

Dear "All That Glitters" MAC Eyeshadow,

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all the times you've been there for me and have brightened my day. Through the good times and the bad, you have stood the test of time and for that I am grateful.

Our first meeting at the MAC counter in Menlo Park Mall was a memorable one. You were a shining star that day, featured in the *special* section of makeup... You caught my eye and the rest is history.

Putting you on everyday has transformed me in so many ways. Just a dab here and a dab here and my face is glowing, ready to go... whether i am tan or pale, you shine through lighting up my expression with all your glitz and subtle shimmer. You are just the perfect neutral tone to wear with any color, for any occassion. with you by my side, i am confident and ready to face the day...

Know that I am a loyal fan, and even though you are half way done, i will purchase you once again.

Ode to Bare Escentuals

Before you, I hated makeup.  I avoided it at all costs and instead always looked drab and uneven.  Then I discovered your store in Cincinnati and you changed my life.  Yes, you cost a lot of money, but your stuff never expires since it's all fine minerals, so I never have to worry about not using it in time.  I can use that light purple eye shadow once a year if I want to, and it won't be a problem.

Thank you for having perfected the art of blending.  Never can a person tell I have foundation on.  Thank you for being easy to apply.  Your brushes are so soft.  I'm grateful to never have to use my fingers to apply you.  Fingers are dirty in my opinion.

Since discovering you, I've been told I was glowing (before pregnancy too, by the way - ironically no one has said it since I got pregnant), that I looked like I was totally natural, and that I looked very clean.  I'll take those compliments.

To my dearest vanilla pigment -

You have been there for me through every color combo I can imagine. You have been a sparkly companion to the neutrals that I wear and the perfect combination for those rockin nights! I remember first meeting you in Miami....you were the only thing I bought in the mall that day because we felt so out of place....but you...you warmed my heart and my eyes. I knew there was a reason we went there that day! It makes me sad that I don't have a MAC store near home where I could go shopping and buy some of your brothers and sisters. You have reached your quarter life, where I still have about 3/4 of you left to use....but be assured my sweet, sparkly vanilla....when your time is up and you run out. I will replace you no matter how far I have to travel. And when I do travel that far far distance, I will buy many many more pigments. For I love how you alone have changed my makeup collection.

Let's see... i hate trying to describe myself... yet alone in a "short sentence"... who can do that... i'm 29, happily married to a great guy, have 2 dogs, art director for a medical communications company. We're in the process of trying to sell our condo and move so DH can open his own business.
