6 Months From Now...

Posted Tuesday, March 25, 2008 6:55 PM

So this weekend my friend wants to go for the BM dresses for her wedding. I unfortunately can't make it (i have a baby shower) but told her i would just send her my measurements and she could order for me. I'm fine with whatever she picks, it is after all, her wedding.

Anyway, not that we're TTC but we may have made a slight error this month in the bedroom... so i was supposed to get my monthly visitor today, but lo and behold, nothing... I personally don't think I'm pregnant, but... i guess i won't know definitely til i get it... i'm pretty sure i'm feeling all the PMS signs so I think its still just a matter of my cycle regulating itself (my period has come a different day for the past 4 months so who knows what regular is).

I'm just trying to think for now though what i should do about ordering this dress. The wedding isn't til october, which is a little over 6 months from now... and i honestly just don't know what's going to happen that far in advance... so i'm wondering if i should order 1 size up, just in case i should happen to get PG in the next 6 months? I mean if it were to happen now, i'd be pretty big by then, but if it were to happen say august, maybe i'd have no problems...

Also i think the styles of the dress are very fitted, so i guess i would rather have more fabric, that i can always cut away than less and look like im wearing sausage casing... (that would be a hot look, i know...) luckily my friend is almost promoting me being PG at her wedding, saying how cute i'd be... although i'm shallow hal and don't want to be big, possibly with "cankles" (thanks edmo for that warning! heee heee)

I have to decide by Saturday, so i can let her know what to do... your thoughts? anyone been in this position before and what happened?

re: 6 Months From Now...

Well, I am very glad that you are taking the monthly visitor being late better than I did.  I am now 15 days without my visitor, so I just don't know what is going on.  I guess I just skipped one.  Anyway, if you order the right size for you measurements, would you be able to order in a new dress if you found out that you are pregnant?  And if so, how long would it take to get the dress in for you to be fitted?  If you think you might get pregnant in August/September, ordering  one size up couldn't hurt to much.  If you don't get bigger, then you can always have it altered down.  But you would pay a bit more in alterations.  I'm happy your bride is supportive of you having a baby, even if it does mean the possibility or rushing around last-minute for fittings :)

re: 6 Months From Now...

My sister, who won't even be getting married until about 2011, has "jokingly" already said that she won't let anyone who is pregnant be in her bridal party.  I know she's serious, though.  We might very well be onto baby #2 by the time of her wedding, so she's basically already making other plans for me.  Share the love.

Anyway, just wanted to semi-relate.  I have nothing very intelligent to say right now, lol.

re: 6 Months From Now...

My friend ordered a dress in one size bigger for her future SIL's wedding, just in case she was pregnant at the time.  Well, the wedding is this weekend and she's not pregnant.  However, she has put on a little weight since the dress ordering, and she's so glad she ordered up a size.  She needed very little altering, whereas she would have needed it let out had she ordered her normal size.  So I say order one size up.  Even if you aren't pregnant and didn't put on any weight in the meantime, you'll still find it easier to take a dress in than have it let out, especially if that dress is fitted to start with.
