The beauty of a get-together

Posted Wednesday, June 06, 2007 3:43 PM

Tonight I get to enjoy one of the best parts about being a bride-to-be: The Get-together (GTG). I like to think of GTGs as a support group with martinis (we usually meet at a restaurant). It's chance to schmooze with other brides-to-be – or newlyweds – and swap helpful hints that the magazines won’t tell you, such as: if you have guests take "candids" with disposable cameras, only two pictures on each one will come out – and one of them will be really embarrassing so you won’t be able to use it anyway.
I’ve met two of the girls (both now newlyweds) at a previous GTG: one will be doing my makeup for the wedding; the other had the same gal do her wedding make-up.
We all come from different backgrounds, but when you have a common goal -- in this case making it to your wedding day without losing your mind -- it doesn't matter what those differences are.
Having the chance to interact with other brides in a relaxed setting gives those you love a break – trust me, only another bride-to-be would appreciate the effort you are putting into finding the perfect shade of lipstick for the big day. As much as my fiancé loves me -- he doesn't care if I am wearing pink peony, frostbite or Carmex. He'll kiss me under the chuppah anyway.
Cheers! Drinks
