I'm going on a date this weekend. My fiancé doesn't mind --- he's the one I'm going out with. Too often during the engagement period we forget the little things we liked doing before we were sporting bling on our left hand.
My fiancé and I used to go out for dinner, drive down to Long Beach, take walks in the park and just hang out. We both realized how much we missed that, so this weekend I think we're going miniature golfing – something we always talked about doing but, after a year and half together, are finally going to do. It's not flashy, but we don't need flashy. I just need to show him how awesome I am on the links … although he's insisted that he's going to win.
Last night we met with our venue's wedding coordinator (I never thought I would spend THAT MUCH time figuring out which steph my maid of honor would stand on) and then had dinner with my grandmother. When we came back home we talked, watched TV and played our respective gaming devices (him: PSP; me: gumballs on my cell). We held hands and discussed whether the team on "Pirate Master" would mutiny and how Judy Davis' character Joan should NOT have been driving drunk on "The Starter Wife."
Yes it is nice to talk about wedding plans, but it's just as important to know that you can just "be" with the person with whom you plan to spend the rest of your life.
