Registry laser tag redux

Tonight Adam and I are cleaning house. Actually, we are cleaning registry.
Something we hadn't realized when we first registered at Crate & Barrel, during one of their Engagement Sundays, was which items were seasonal and which were not. We took that handy, dandy scanner and marked off napkins and placemats and plates and glasses – all of which we found out are about to become extinct.
We had the chance to taste waffles from a waffle maker, juice from a juicer, panini from a panini maker – and so on. I had no idea how much time we would spend there. I was worried we would have to pitch a tent in the middle of the store to finish the darn registry.
I do suggest picking up C&B's "50 Things You Wish Someone Told You Before You Registered." It actually was very helpful that early Sunday morning when we both had nothing in us but a Starbucks. We used tips like: give guests a price range; you can buy it for yourself but you probably won't; and pick up the knife and fork and pretend to cut with it. We looked stupid cutting imaginary food, but I think it will be worth it in the long run.
I know people say it is rude to look at your registry to see who bought you things … well I say it is ruder to frustrate your guests and have none of the things you asked for be in stock – and then you end up with a statue of a lady with a clock where her stomach ought to be.
So it's back to the proverbial drawing board before shower No. 2 at the end of the month. And because both of us firmly believe in Murphy's Law, we'll probably have to go back before shower No. 3 in September. Let's just hope I can find a tent that matches the placements.
