Party people

Life is good! The R.S.V.P.s are coming in; the rehearsal dinner is at one of our favorite restaurants; my father offered to make the bentschers for us; I only have three more thank you notes to write to be totally caught up; Adam loved the song I dedicated to him on the radio this week; and our bachelor/bachelorette party is this weekend. Yes, it is a bit early in the great wedding timeline (most people have theirs the night or two before the wedding) -- but this weekend is going to be one of the most enjoyable ones we've had in a long time. Plus, that close to the wedding, who has the time?

Thursday night, Adam and I went to Party City so I could pick up a "groom" cap for him (they were out of the pins -- Adam wasn't too upset). I also picked up some pins for the girls who are coming to the party. I thought I'd let them decide who gets to be "vixen" and who gets to be "too hot." Those items are added to the very cute hats and bride-to-be sash I picked up at Target (God bless the dollar bin).

While it might be a little over the top to get dressed up in order to tell a bunch of strangers that you are getting married, when else in your life can you do that? It doesn't mean the same if you do it at the gas station, the grocery store or the post office. Maybe Starbucks, but everyone gets excited when they are on caffeine.

Tonight I'm heading to the airport to pick up my cousin/bridesmaid who is flying down from the Bay Area for the weekend. I think one of the best parts of the whole bachelor/bachelorette extravaganza is the coming together of friends and family who mean so much to you, but have never met. Tomorrow we have a baker's dozen ready to party; Sunday, it turns out, is our bridal party.

For those of you contemplating a bachelor and/or bachelorette party, remember -- it isn't about mourning the end of being single .. it is about enjoying the fact that you are about to officially become a party of two.Big Smile
