So a week ago, the lenders sent out additional document requests that were pending before they could approve our loan. They wanted to see more bank statements, gift letters, checks, and other verifications. We were prepared and expected them to be nitpicky and ask for more documents, however, I do wonder sometimes about some of the stuff they are requesting. What's wrong with the money's there, its in the bank statements and accounts, isn't that enough? Anyway, it took another week for us and our parents (gift funds) to gather up more pointless documentation and sent them in to the lenders and underwriters. In fact today we called our lender and she said we should have everything! Hopefully she is right and there won't any more requests. Even the lender got confused over all the documents at one point, we had to explain everything to her twice and show that everything was there!
Now that that's over with, hopefully the preliminary HUD-1 statement will be available for us tomorrow or Friday. I need it soon so I can send it to my company's Home Benefit Program (they are giving us $12,000 towards DP and closing). At least I hope they will give me $12,000... that's another hurdle we have to go through before our closing date November 30th!

So every weekend, we've been going to various furniture stores looking for the perfect sofa for our living area. We've decided that a sectional will be the best fit for the living area, gives as much sitting space as possible without looking too crowded. Let's see... so far we've viewed sectionals from Crate and Barrel, Ethan Allen, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Arhaus, Macy's, Value City, and Marlo's. You would think we've found one by now but nope, not yet! I've always thought furniture shopping would be fun but its exhausting. Its been one after another, if its not the design, its the price. If the price isn't an issue, it would be the quality. Just this weekend, we even realized that the microfabric we've been hoping to have may not be what we want! Now we are thinking leather may be the best option. Oy... we will be taking a break this weekend.
The Arhaus piece we love, just not the $4,000 price tag:
Macy's version which is cheaper. Went to check the sectional out in person but was told it was the very last one. Only the floor sample is on sale, which looked run down and was not the color we wanted:
May now look at leather sectionals:

Our settlement date is scheduled to be on Monday, November 30, 2009. I hope the journey will be easy and we will soon be decorating our brand new home! In the mean time, we've been shopping around for living and dining room furniture. We've seen a few pieces here and there. Did not realize how expensive furniture can get! I don't want to be frugal and end up with low quaility furniture that won't last. But I also can't be buying top of the line, large furniture since we know we'll be upgrading to a bigger home in the next 5 years. I hope we'll find something that's up to our standards, yet won't keep us broke for the rest of the year. I'm already feeling it from the hefty 20% down payment!
