We will work 4-10 hour days and get Friday off. Normally, I would be over the moon with this, but I am leaving soon, so it's not all that exciting a prospect. So my new schedule will be

8-5:30 at regular work M-T

8-4:30 at Dad's Fridays.

So, no day off for me. At least I won't have to work nights anymore. That was really starting to wear on me. The work I have been doing for my dad is mostly bookkeeping. Similar to what I do, but different too. Right now I work in a manufacturing environment where I do a lot of cost accounting/inventory management. Dad owns a construction business, where everything is much more job costing related. I will get to do more aspects of business there. I will essentially do all bookkeeping, payroll, Benefits management, and answering phones. I do not like answering phones, but I suppose that is the price I pay. This job will allow me to expand my abilities beyond just cost accounting. So, all in all, a good decision.

Our house is a disaster. Working as much as I have been, it is not getting cleaned. With the long weekend, I might have to break down and do it. Aaron said he would even help. It's just been so busy and crazy. I went out and bought economy size wine bottles. I need a couple glasses before bed, otherwise I lay awake till 1:00 in the morning.

Not sure if I mentioned this or not. My brother and his wife just announced they are expecting #2. Wow, I was super shocked. Lately, all my brother does is complain about watching their first. And they are having another???? She is a youth pastor and works like 70 hours a week, and has a lot of night meetings, so she is gone all the time. He ends up watching Tyler, but I think he would like a little more free time, so its been sort of an issue. Sure hope they make some lifestyle changes before the second gets here.

My other brother is dating a crazy girl. She is only 20, yet the doctors have her on so many meds, definitely not the most healthy for my little bro. But how do you tell your brother his gf is going to be a handful tactfully? You don't, so I just sit and hope that he doesn't get crushed. The whole fam is concerned. Yet I know it's really none of my business.

Aaron's cell phone got washed last week. Irritating! I have reminded him so many times to empty pockets. Oh well. We are under contract till Jan. And he wants to get rid of his and get a pay as you go, since he never uses the thing. So, we are trying to locate a new phone that he can put his sim into, yet not spend a fortune. I never realized how much it sucks not to be able to call him unless he is at home or work. Hopefully we can find one on ebay.

Wow, I really am rambling. There just seems to be a lot going on.

Real Quick Update

So, I have 9 minutes until I leave for the day, and who really works the last 10 minutes of work on a Friday? Not me.

Updates:

Family - My parents are now seeking counseling to deal with their issues. My brother and I are still having somewhat of a hard time adjusting to everything, however I feel that I am doing better than they are.

Job - I have decided to take the job at my dad's company in September. I need to work here through August to get my bonus, but then I will part ways. I have worked here 4 years and its given me a great groundwork, but its time to move on, and the company is suffering anyway, so I am saving thems loads. In the meantime, I am working all day, and then all night at dads. Not getting home till 10:00. Can't sleep unitl 12:00 each night. New schedule is a little tiring. Aaron even said he misses me. Sweet!

Married life - Besides not seeing each other a ton, we are great!

I made some time for fun too. I took off last Friday and went to the beach with some girlfriends, and then we had a bonfire that night. Good times. Had my parents over for dinner on Sunday night. And amazingly, everything turned out okay. No fiascos.

I have been reading some of the blogs lately. Sorry I haven't been commenting!

Rachel - Glad to hear that things are going a little better for you emotionally. I have been thinking about you.

Mandy - Tear Matt away from video games. Sounds like he might have a slight addiction!

Cari - Glad that the patio furniture was a good buy. I have been wanting some for so long. We have this huge 2nd story deck with only two chairs. I want a table and chairs so we can have bbq with friends! Jealous of you :)

Julia - Congrats! You will do great!

Sorry...there are more people. But my 9 minutes is up! Hope all have a wonderful weekend!

Darn Animals!

I had such a crummy night last night. It was raining for a while, so I stayed indoors, and cleaned a little, as well as read some of my book. Well, I go outside after the rain has subsided to grab the mail, only to find all my flowers dug up. I was furious. They were all over the sidewalk and buried under dirt. Our dog Lucy was very bad! So, I spend the next 15 minutes replanting those that were salvageable. That put me a foul mood for the rest of the evening. DH came home shortly after that and we have no food to make dinner. But I didn't want to go out at that point, it was already 8:30. So, we made do with some rice and cereal. Sad, but we need to go grocery shopping. My cat was being super needy last night. I don't know if anyone else's cat does this, but I got up to go to the bathroom and my cat gets up and bites my leg. Apparently he was pissed that I wasn't petting him anymore. Now, I have red marks on my calf from the darn cat. And I am super pale, so it looks terrible! DH took the animals away from me, so I could relax a little. I read a little more and waited for Top Chef to come on at 10:00. It was good last night, and a little surprising! The best part was the end where Lisa asks "Aren't you going to congratulate me?" and Stephanie looks at her with the most priceless look and says "Okay I guess congratulations" dripping with sarcasm!

On a more positive note, I am going to see the Sex and the City movie tonight. I am pretty excited. I am seeing it with my little brother's girlfriend. She is nice, kind of bubbly, and high energy, but I figure she can't talk too much during a movie. Plus, I couldn't convince DH to go with me.

I am so depressed about money right now! and with this new job offer, I need to really consider how it will affect our finances. We pay all our bills, and have savings, but not a lot extra these days. We haven't done a lot of "fun" things in awhile. Which is why I am so looking forward to South Carolina this summer. I wish the darn gas prices would level off so we could properly budget. Seems like just when we get our budget to balance, the prices skyrocket again!

I am hoping I can cheer up as the day goes by.

Weighing Job Options

I like my job, and I am pretty good at it, however the company I work for has been struggling a little. It's on the smaller side, only about 60 employees. They have laid a lot of people off in the last year. So, I am not feeling so comfortable anymore. I had an opportunity arise last fall, but the new job would have required 50-60 hour work weeks, and I am just not going to do that.

Well, that brings me to today, I have received a job offer for a small construction company. I would be like the office manager type person, and do all the accounting, payroll, as well as answer phones, and general office duties. The main problem is that it would be a downgrade in pay. Financially speaking, we could make it work, but I it would be tough for a while, especially in the winter. The pros:

More flexible schedule. Where I at now, its very strict. This would be especially a plus once we have children

Very independent job. not a lot of interference, since the type of company is small and most of the workers, are out working not in the office

More stability. I might lose my job anyway at my current position due to the company struggling

Closer to home (only about 4 miles RT, vs 24 RT) So less gas $

I would get a larger array of job duties than my current job

The cons:

Definitely the pay drop. We have the house now, and all the high bills that it brings

I would have to work with a family member, which may be a little different

It might be step down career wise for my accounting path. While I get more responsibilities at the new one, it might be harder to find an accounting job in the future.

I would not get the bonus that I currently get. However, the bonus is based on profitability, and since we don't have much right now, I might not get it anyway.

Here is the dilemna, do you take a job that would provide more security, flexibility, and heightened duties but a lower salary?

Calming down

Things seem to be calming down on the family front. The big secret affair is out in the open. It was probably a good thing. My mom has suspected but didn't have confirmation. We had a long talk with dad and they are going to try to work things out, and go to counseling together. The work situation is a little more tricky. He can't very well fire his secretary now, because she could slap him with a sexual harassment suit. He broke the news to her friday that the affair was over, it may be that she doesn't want to continue working there anyway. Its kind of a sticky situation. If she does leave, I have offered to take care of the books till he can find a replacement. What good is having a daughter that is an accountant, if she can't help you. I will probably work nights at his office for a while. The fact remains, that the only way my parents will get over this, is if this woman is no longer employed at my dads company. Guess we'll stay tuned. He has taken a few days off, so that might help.

Other news. We had a nice weekend. DH volunteered at Relay For Life, so he was gone a little bit. I cleaned the whole house this weekend. It took about 4.5 hours. Ridiculous. I am reminded why I don't clean every week. Its crazy to work all week, and then spend the only time I have off cleaning. However, it looks spotless now.

I started a new book, but haven't gotten too far into it. I had resist all urges to go shopping this weekend. Spent some time with friends on Saturday night. And today, my brother was installed as a Deacon at church, so we went to service this morning, and then went to my parents for lunch (a little awkward too)

I had the chance to spend a little time with my nephew this weekend (he is 18 months). He is adorable, and actually makes me think I could have children. He still isn't doing much talking, except dad, mom, ball, and Pablo (backyardigans I guess) I so wish he could say my name but I have a feeling mine will be a hard one. Of course, every time I spend a little time with him, or play I get all the "when are you having kids?" question. I am convinced it will never stop

Kind of boring blog, just a lot of little things.

Did I just witness that?

I go to the park at lunchtime and eat my packed lunch. It's the highlight of my rather boring workday. I don't know how people can stay and eat in the lunch room when you can have an hour break away from the office.

The playground at the park is always packed with kids, especially on nice days like today. I am sitting there attempting to read my new book, when all I can hear is this little girl (about 4) screaming on the playground. I keep waiting to see some mom run up to her, but no, apparently for this mom, that would be way too much work. The mom was sitting on the bench about 100 ft away smoking a cigarette, and yelling for the girl to come to her. WHAT? And this lady could have used the exercise to get up to see her little girl. So, another mom actually helped this little girl....she must have fallen and scrapped her knee. I don't have a problem with smoking, nor people that are overweight, but did with this lady for being so ambivalent toward her child. It got me thinking...I hear so many women on her who would love to have a child, and can't, and then there is this lady who couldn't be bothered with hers. It seems like such and injustice.

Happier Note

Well, amidst all the family drama, I am trying to stay positive and happy.
My garden didn't die from the frost last night

LOST season finale is freaking 2 hours tomorrow night. And its going to be awesome. I just saw some previews at Eonline!

I am going to SC with friends this summer in August.

My job seems a little more secure since my boss told me today she couldn't do it without me.

Since stopping BC, our sex life has improved dramatically. Highly recommended for those with that issue.

My husband has been so loving and awesome lately, that I feel like a newlywed again, even though its been 3 years.

It's finally warm up here in snow country. So I can enjoy the outdoors again
