It's a Boy!
By Lori
This past Monday was a huge day for me and DH, since we finally found out our baby's gender. The ultrasound revealed we are having a healthy baby boy! We are thrilled! If I think my DH's electronics and robots are plentiful now, can you imagine what I'll be in for in a few years?!
Pregnancy brain has also started to set in. I'm normally very organized -- so when I start to do things like showing up at the completely wrong time for an appointment, leaving for work wearing bedroom slippers rather than shoes, and leaving the oven on 450 degrees for three hours, it's quite unnerving.
One thing pregnancy brain has not affected is my ability to spend - thank goodness! Now that we have a baby boy to plan for, all I can daydream about is the fabulous nursery I want to decorate (you might have read in Nest Annie's blog that we are moving our home office so baby can have his own space). Since DH and I are both designers, you can imagine the amount of meticulous art direction that is going to happen in this room. We want baby to have a very unique, creative environment, so we're thinking vibrant colors in a robot theme (of course), and mixing in some kooky Japanese-inspired characters. Below are two plush toys I already bought this week -- they might be too quirky for some, but I love them!

UglyDolls, $11.95, KidRobot; Pooki&Co. Pablo doll, $22, MoMA Design Store
While we're really good at decorating, we have no idea what kind of practical nursery stuff we need! Furniture, gliders, changing tables, diaper genies... we don't know what is necessary and what isn't, and keep hearing mixed reviews about certain products. Living in a two-bedroom apartment doesn't allow us tons of extra space, so we need to be very careful about what we buy. Any BTDT Nestie moms have advice on the must-haves?
