Getting Undressed

by Kathleen

I bought a pair of those black skinny pants from the Gap. I admit, I'm a sucker for Audrey Hepburn. But when I put them on to go out, my husband said, "I think your pants shrunk." I informed him that exposing my ankles was intentional. He rolled his eyes. I didn't care. I still like them. And I knew my friends would think they were cute. And don't we all dress to impress our female friends anyway? But I do think there needs to be a balance. I love it when my husband says he likes my outfit.

So here's my secret (disclaimer: my DH is not completely tortured by shopping). Go to one store (just one) and while you're browsing have your husband pick out one thing he likes for you too. Now it might look terrible on you, and if it does, find something similar in color or shape that you like better.

I promise, it will become your new favorite shirt. And weeks later when you ask in frustration, "What should I wear?" He'll actually have an answer. If he refuses to go shopping, take this What's Your Couples Style? quiz together for some fashion hints.

Now it's your turn to spill: What's the one thing in your closet your DH really hates that you really love? Mine is a little back tweed dress (a la Audrey Hepburn of course) that i LOVE and he HATES. He says it looks like a towel.

Great question -- too funny. My DH laughs at these little silver ballet flats that I have. I just gloat at him when we get out and I get complimented on them :-)

re: Getting Undressed

I have a black tweed dress (from GAP) that my DH hates too! I also have a striped long sleeve shirt that he hates. This past weekend, he told me he hates the bangs I am wearing now. They are so 80s. It's funny, but I find myself not wearing what he doesn't like. So I guess he may as well pick out all my clothes.
