Do you self-exam?
by Katie
October is *** Cancer Awareness Month and of all times during the year, I should probably do a self-exam. But I always forget -- or I convince myself that I'm too young for cancer, which is just ridiculous since my college roommate and bff recently fought Leukemia. I probably make bad excuses out of fear since I'm really just scared to find something. Anyone know what I mean?
Does anyone else put this type of thing off? I'm good about going to the doctor, but when it comes to doing things at home, like even flossing, I'm a bad patient.
Anyway, I was recently inspired by a bunch of Nesties who met online while they were Knotties planning their weddings. One of them was recently diagnosed with *** cancer, and they all got together to help support her. They even just raised over $6K doing the walk. Read their blog.
And I've seen the cutest “pink” stuff where a percentage of the proceeds go to finding a cure and helping patients. I love these chocolate covered pretzels with pink toppings from Fretzels.com and these adorable Vera Bradley totes. This is the type of thing that is great to send to another woman or even a survivor to spread the love.
I think Pink has filled the October air, and it's fabulous. So if you haven't felt your “mams” this month, I highly recommend it. I'll even do it too. Here's a detailed “how to”. (I didn't realize how aerobic it is -- maybe I can count it as one of my weekly workouts :) Good luck!
