Yes, mom does know best
by Kristen
“Today is straight teeth day!” I announced to a coworker as I arrived in the office this morning. After work, I’m going to an orthodontic consultation for braces--something I never thought I’d be doing in my 20s. At least they're the clear plastic kind! And yes, I went through the requisite childhood orthodontic work, but stopped early in middle school. Needless to say, my mouth has grown and my teeth have shifted, and even though they’re still straight, there are teeth with larger-than-I’d-like spaces between them. Confession: I wish I would have listened to my parents and followed through with all of the treatment I should have had. Now that I’m (literally) paying for it, I’m sure I’ll take it far more seriously.
I’ve had increasing “I should have listened to my parents” moments recently, and now that I can admit they really did know best, they’re feeling pretty vindicated. So, thanks mom for your advice – solicited or not. Yes, you were right. Again.
