Making friends as a couple?

My husband and I went to college together and have dated since our sophomore year. By the time graduation rolled around, we had the same group of friends. In fact, his guy friends started dating my girl friends and it became this incestual thing.

But all these couples now live in different cities (surprise: we're all still together -- and married). DH and I live in NYC and don't have a great, fun couple we love hanging out with.

Do you? How did you meet? Do you still hang out?

We're actually looking to do a story on this -- and we're looking for some great stories of how you made couples friends AND some funny stories too. Like, do you have any horror stories? Did you have to break up with a couple?
