Ordering Your Own V-Day Flowers

By Kathleen

I’m going to be totally honest -- I hate red roses. One or two in a mix is fine, but a dozen red roses does not make me mush. So last year before Valentine’s Day I put it out on the line for my DH. I said to him, “If you’re going to send me flowers to work, please don’t send a dozen red roses and please don’t order from a [nameless] chain florist that doesn’t do a good job. It’s not worth your money.”

Completely bit**y I know. He was naturally a bit ticked off, saying why did I even think I was getting flowers at work, and how dare I take away the surprise by “demanding” a certain type of flower. Well he did send flowers, and they were beautiful, though he was still mad at me.

The upside was that I made my point. This year, I didn’t even say one peep about flowers and just received the most beautiful bunch. So I think it’s a good idea to tell him what you really want, and deal with one year of being the pushy one. He’ll be happier that he’s making you happier.

Do you have any tricks for letting him know what kind of flowers you like? Maybe in a bit nicer way? These Nesties revealed what they really wanted for Valentine’s Day. What are you hoping for?

PS I’m sick of spending $8 for fancy cards at the gift store, so bought my DH this silly card at Hallmark that plays Barry White. No time to card shop? It’s not too late to send an ecard.
