Who Reads Your Blog?
by Katie
I've started to love blogging. We began this project a few months ago as a job-thing... a way to be part of the community we've created... but posting has become so fun, and a little therapeutic. I often forget that people who know me actually read it!
How anonymous is your blog? When you vent about your DH or MIL, are you ever worried they might find it? What about your co-workers?
I had an interesting experience where a freelancer and I were talking at work. This was a guy that came in a few times a week to do some work for us -- someone I barely knew. But we started talking about music and he brought up the argument I had with my husband about going to see John Mayer.
Um, what? I was shocked. How did he know? “I read it in your blog,” he said as if he was just doing his job. (He was, that's the scary part!) I was a little horrified and when I talked to another Nest Editor blogger about it, she said she heard our whole IT department likes to read it too. Is it true? I have no idea.
It's pretty funny. When I get typing, I often forget that people who know me might be reading my personal thoughts -- things I would tell my close friends, but um, not my husband's co-workers (yes, some of them have also found the blog too!).
Who reads your blog? Have you ever been “caught” revealing things that your family would consider a little too personal? Has your DH or a co-worker ever found your blog?
I've decided that it's not going to stop me. Yes, I'm a little more careful about what I say about my personal life. But in the end, I really don't have anything to hide. But I can promise you I won't be asking any of these Sex Q&A topics (they can be a little crazy!). That can be left for people who are truly anonymous.
