TV in the bedroom?

Flight001 Sleep MaskI caused my own demise last week. My baseball-obsessed husband wanted to watch the game, but since it was on the West Coast, it didn't start till 10pm our time. I was going to bed, but because I wanted to be in the same room, I suggested he watch the game in our bedroom. I put my eye mask on (it looks like this cute one from Flight001.com -- a total lifesaver if you go to bed at different times ) and went to sleep, until...

At about 1 am, he starts pounding on the bed and yelling at the TV. I guess his team blew a big play and lost the game. So I, of course, woke up. And couldn't fall back asleep. Anyway, long story short, I'm now considering getting rid of the TV in the bedroom. Not because of this incident specifically, but it made me realize that we never watch TV in the bedroom so why have it?

Do you have a TV in the bedroom? Is it affecting your relationship? Since the TV in the bedroom is never on, it's not, but we do fall into this marriage rut: watching TV during dinner (see the other 7). The main reason? Our dining room table is covered in clutter so it's simply easier to eat and watch in the living room. No excuse, I know.

re: TV in the bedroom?

My husband HAS TO watch the tv before going to sleep and I love it dark and quiet! So that's always been the big issue for us there, also he won't let himself fall asleep if he finds a show or a movie that he likes, so I wake up at 1 to find him still up watching it. Grrr Those are our 2 issues.

re: TV in the bedroom?

Bedroom is for sleeping and love making and is a sanctuary. Seriously...a TV in the bedroom? I don't understand this concept.

re: TV in the bedroom?

We have a tv in the bedroom, but it does not have a cable hookup, so we can watch moives on it but not tv.  Sometimes it's nice to curl up in bed together and watch a romantic movie.  For the person who doesn't understand having a tv in the bedroom, I would say that personally, after a rough day I find few things as relaxing and comforting than going to bed early with my hubby and watching a good movie together.  And if you don't have a cable hookup on the tv it doesn't have to be a nuisance, it can be something you do together.

re: TV in the bedroom?

We don't have a TV in the bedroom, but we do the same thing, watching TV during dinner because we just don't feel like clearing the table.  It's kinda sad because "setting the table" means putting two cutting boards on our ottoman because we don't have a coffee table :)  I would like to get out of the habit, but we're just so lazy and trying to relax after work that we don't try.  I would say that I would probably kill DH if he woke me up screaming at 1 am at a baseball game, so it might be healthier for your relationship physically and mentally if you scratch the TV from the bedroom.

re: TV in the bedroom?

We don't have a tv in our bedroom, but I didn't grow up with a tv in my room and I don't think he did either, so it was never even a consideration.  We go to sleep together every night.
