How Do You Store Your Shoes?

I'm in really big trouble with DH -- my shoes have taken over our apartment. I've got a pile by my bedside table, a bunch in the closet, a few near his side of the bed, and usually a random pair somewhere in the living room. In a genuine effort to keep things under control, I tried keeping the shoes in their original boxes... didn't work. It was too hard to find what I was looking for and all the boxes were different sizes, making it difficult to stack them in the closet. And I'm not very fond of those open shoe racks -- I think everything tends to get dusty, and I feel like I'm living in a retail store.

Thank goodness I just came across these clear shoe boxes at The Container Store -- each one perfectly fits one pair of shoes, and the boxes are made to stack neatly and securely on top of each other. The clear, durable plastic will keep your stuff dust-free and allow you to easily see what's inside. I think these boxes could be the answer!  I'm going to buy a few and give it a try -- DH will be thrilled.

re: How Do You Store Your Shoes?

I have 2 three-tier shoe racks (Bed Bath and Beyond) that I keep most of my shoes on.  The dressiest ones stay in their boxes.  All my flip flops (I have a flip flop obsession) are in a huge plastic storage bin.  I keep all my shoes in the basement, so when I need a pair, I wear the ones I wore last downstairs, so I don't forget to return them to their proper place, and I get the new ones I'm planning on wearing.  It makes my husband happy that I keep them out of site and in one place.

re: How Do You Store Your Shoes?

I have two big rubbermaid bins that I keep all my shoes in, divided by the seasons (winter and summer) and I usually store them in my closet. Since the shoes can tend to get dirty and a little scuffed when they're all thrown in together, I only do that with shoes like my tennis shoes, clogs, and flip flops. All my dressy shoes I have been keeping in their original boxes but those clear shoe boxes look like a good idea!

I have a hanging shoe holder that has slotts that hold a pair of shoes in each (25 slots soo It holds quite a few shoes.... my dressiest shoes are in their boxes in the closet.

A great idea for keeping shoes in their original storage boxes is taking a picture of the shoes and placing it on the outside of the box so you can easily see which pair of shoes it is. Great for organizing, and it does not require you to spend money on new boxes for your shoes!

re: How Do You Store Your Shoes?

my shoes are hung on the back of my closet door with a soft sleeve hanger. Each sleeve holds one pair of shoes or even more when it comes to my flip flops. My nicer shoes are left in their original boxes but instead of leaving them on the floor I place them up higher on the shelves above my clothes in my closet. That way the floor space is saved for more important things and the boxes are not being kick and beaten up all the time. It keeps DH happy and I know where are all shoes are.
