Got a Gadget you Swear By?

For some reason I always end up with half of a recipe that I set out to make. And I blame this on my less-than-meticulous maneuvering between the cutting board and the pot.

As silly as it sounds, my kitchen rug definitely deserves a cleaning (and a dumping) more often than most. That's why I went nuts for this great gadget from conranusa.com. Do your dicing and mincing right on the board and then a simple squeeze to the handle folds it into a chute to create a steady path to the pot. Plus there's a little hole on top that lets you hang it on the kitchen wall for easy-access.  And it comes in blue, too!

Do you have any favorite cooking tools that take the pressure off your food prep?

I love my apple slicer/core remover and my cheese slicer.  Both make cutting a lot easier and faster.

I saw those cutting boards at Macy's and I think they're awesome!  I really like my OXO scrub brush from Crate and Barrel.  You can put soap in the handle, squeeze it and wash all the dishes.  It makes washing dishes really easy!
