Wii like to party!

Having people over can be an overwhelming and anxious filled event for a lot of us. Between preparing for the party, cleaning the house, selecting and cooking all the food, setting the table... there is also the question, "What do we do with everyone once they're all here?"

This one question is why a lot of my friends avoid having people over at all. The pressure for everyone to be entertained, to keep the conversation going long after the food is gone and to have everyone leave your party having had a great time -- it is often too much work to bother!

We've found an easy way around all of that anxiety. (And no, it's not alcohol, although that does help!)

Get a Wii.

The Nintendo Wii comes with the Wii Sports pack where you can create little animated characters of you and your guests called "Miis" and play tennis, golf, baseball, boxing, and my personal favorite -- bowling.

The picture above is of my friend Olivia demonstrating her expert form in her dramatic bowling lunge. I think this pose landed her a strike.  Our friends now get together for "Dinner and Wii" nights on a regular basis.

Having an activity such as this to entertain your guests is a great way to alleviate the pressure of making conversation. Check out The Nest for more party planning tips!

re: Wii like to party!

We have a Wii.  I got it for my husband for Christmas.  While we don't break it out after dinner parties or anything, my husband has tons of friends over and has Wii playing events.  It's so much fun for them, and way more active than sitting on the couch drinking beer and watching sports.

Also, we love non-electronic games.  Everyone always wants to play them but never does so on their own.  So we play Apples to Apples, Catch Phrase, and Mad Gab.

We got our WII in late November/early December. On New Years Eve, it ended up being a huge hit at our party. It was a lot of fun and we even bought retro games like Sonic the Hedgehog. It's awesome being able to revisit our childhood.

I think that the Nest Editor's Blog should be re-named "Additional Advertising Space with Commentary from the Nest Editor's".  I don't mean to pick on your post, but ALL of the Nest Editor's posts are like this, and this is the first time I actually decided to say something about it.   Isn't there enough room for advertising already?

edmo -- *LOVE* Catch Phrase!

_Olivia_ -- I really appreciate this feedback!  I try to make my posts personal about things I'm actually doing and less product-related, but I know what you're saying.  If only Nintendo sent me a Wii to review, but alas, they didn't! ;)   I'll definitely keep this in mind the next time I write.
