Anniversary Gift Ideas

It's my second anniversary this week (can't believe it) and I have to say we were both completely stumped shopping for presents. We're going out to a nice dinner so we said to not spend a lot of money on a gift (under $50). But it's hard to find something that's sweet, cheap, and different from a typical birthday or Christmas present. So here's what I got him:

1) Love Is a Mix Tape: It's a new novel by a rock critic from Rolling Stone. We make each other mixes all the time (still) so I thought this would be a fun read even though he's not a big modern novel fan. ($15)

2) A funky heart flash drive from MoMAStore.org (see pic above). I actually first saw it in The Nest magazine (see more from the new issue) and thought it was adorable, but then it dawned on me that it would be a perfect practical yet cute present to replace the random flash drive freebie my DH currently uses. (It was on sale for $54).

So I went a little over the price limit, but that's ok. Anniversary gifts are hard! Especially since we decided not to follow the 1st year paper, 2nd year cotton, gift guide.

What did you guys give each other this year for your anniversary? I need to start stocking up on ideas for next year. I also want to start some sort of tradition for our anniversary. Since it's in the summer, maybe we should go to a B&B for a night? Any other ideas?

re: Anniversary Gift Ideas

The funky heart flash drive is such a cute idea! As far as anniversary gift ideas, what about burning a CD with some of you and your husbands favorite songs (especially those with personal meaning for both of you) and then creating a good design for the CD with a case.
