Do You Volunteer?

We're all looking for ways to keep our marriages exciting, but perhaps we need to think beyond the bedroom. Aside from romantic dinners and weekend getaways, another great -- and meaningful -- way to spend time with your spouse is to do some volunteer work together.

Make your volunteer work something you really enjoy. Like to paint? You can create murals at schools and children's hospitals with a local organization in your city, like New York Cares. Have a talent with tools? Perhaps you and DH would enjoy channelling your inner Ty Pennington and build homes around the world with Habitat for Humanity. Love children but not ready for kids of your own? Big Brother Big Sister is a great way for you and DH to be positive role models in a child's life (without the 2 AM feedings).

Do you and DH do any volunteer work together? What organization are you involved with?

re: Do You Volunteer?

DH & I volunteer every other Friday night and work a food line for the homeless people, its truely a blessing to talk with each individual person.

re: Do You Volunteer?

I teach religion class at our local church one night a week. It's a great way to stay involved with the kids in the area. DH and I also donate money to our church and a school I used to work at. We are both active in our local chapter of the ADA...which promotes good nutrition in kids and adults. The ADA also does a great deal of community outreach in educating the public on agricultural awareness. We both really enjoy our volunteer time and efforts!
